10、ne to speak of. AbstractTheodore Dreiser is a famous American writer in writing realism and naturalism novel, and earns a pleasant reputation in revealing the social phenomenon at that time. His novel mainly describes about trifle in daily life. But there is no comment on what he made on these thing
11、s. The American tragedy is one of his great works. The American tragedy made a great success once published and also enjoyed worldwide prestige and compliment. My thesis makes comments on the collapse of American dream based on the main character Clyder. By comparing the changing of Clyders dream, w
12、e can see that American dream is can not be beneficial to all of us. At the same time, we should keep a right attitude toward it. The essay can be divided into three parts. The first part is to show Theodore Dreiser and his novel. The second part focuses on the aversion of the main character and ana
13、lyzes the process and reasons. The final part is about the disillusion of New American dream and discussion. IntroductionAmerican tragedy is one of the greatest works written by Theodore Dreiser who is reputed as
15、one of the most influential and popular American writers in describing the American society at that time. The novel earns a good reputation and fame once published. Since it has been awarded the Nobel Prize for literature, it is the precedence of real American literature. American tragedy is also regarded as the most impressive work throughout the whole America. Once it was published in 1925, it has received a lot of comments. People regard this book
