9、Part 2. Introduction of the Background Information Anyone of any age with some sort of talent can audition for the show. Acts compete against each other in order to gain the audience support while trying to win the first prize.Throughout the show, contestants must perform in front of the judges, and

10、 each year initial auditions have been held in front of a live audience. Auditions precede live semi-finals, where the final 45 contestants (24 in series 1, 40 in series 25) perform nightly for a week in order to impress the British public. Each night, two acts from each semi-final (the act with the

11、 most votes and another chosen by the judges from the acts in second and third place) progress to the live final.Part 3. Understanding of main ideasAsk students to complete the following summary according to the text, in order to have a understanding of the main ideas of the whole text and the struc

12、ture as well.BackgroundTV talent shows are prevalent among the audience nowadays. These shows always follow the same format. There is usually a judging panel, consisting of Simon Cowell and other celebrities, who are searching for talented people.Opinions on talent shows Many of the contestants who

13、enter talent shows have no real talent. I view them as the “bad.” Admittedly, most of the “bad” are willing to make a joke of themselves and only want “ 15 minutes of fame.”However, some of them have been led to believe that they are truly talented. In reality, they are just another evil aspect of a

14、(n) money-grabbing plan.Of course, talent shows never fail to produce incredibly talented people, whom I consider the “good.” A(n) humble woman by the name of Susan Boyle shocked everyone by her beautiful voice. From her TV talent shows learned that one should never judge a book by its cover.Conclus

15、ion Talent shows can provide a great platform for talented people. Thanks to the shows, I have the opportunity to witness ordinary yet talented people.Part 4.
