3、 translated by machine on marine science. The results show that the terms in the second ones tend to have more problems, since the oceanographic research is characterized with strong comprehensiveness, complexity and advance. In order to meet the inclusion requirement of mainstream international ret
4、rieval organizations, the author should do some pre-and post-editing to verify the terms, to make sure that they are accurate and natural, and widely recognized by the target language and the academic community. 5、tive analysis; 引 言 摘要是学术论文的精华, 能够让读者在最短的时间内了解一篇文章的研究背景、方法、结果与最终结论等。英文摘要还是通过国际检索机构及二次文献实现国际报道的第一信息源1。为了提高学术成果在国际上传播的广度与效度, 目前国内超过75%的中文核心期刊要求附上英文摘要2。近年来, 很多作者在撰写论文时习惯借助计算机辅助翻译 (Computer-Assisted Translation, CAT) 等手段, 将论文的中文摘要直接翻译成英语, 这种方式虽然便利, 但是也存在很多术语翻译的问题。 术语集中反映了学术论文的前沿概念和主要内容, 是科技信息的主要载体, 也是科学论
6、述的必要条件。准确无误地翻译术语是正确理解和再现原文内容的前提和科技翻译的基础。研究显示, 术语在学术论文英语摘要各语步的覆盖率均超过10%3, 使用频率较高。然而在学术论文摘要的翻译中, 术语翻译错误却成了最常见的错误类型4。 相较于医学、语言学、材料学等传统学科, 海洋学研究领域更广泛、近年来在研究广度和深度上一直不断拓展, 其在计算机辅助论文摘要翻译中的术语错误更为突出, 也更具代表性。 1、 研究内容 1.1、 语料来源 目前, 国内约有55种海洋学类期刊 (含渔业、石油、工程等涉海类刊物) , 其中中文期刊46种, 如太平洋学报、海洋渔业、海洋地质等。为使语料选取更加客观准确, 笔者
7、检索了这46种期刊2000-2018年发表的所有论文摘要, 在专家的帮助下, 按照Nwogu提出的代表性、权威性、可获性三原则5选取了其中的5篇论文, 涉及到水文学、海洋地质、海洋生物等基础研究, 也包含了渔业水产、军事海洋学等应用研究。将这5篇论文的英文摘要作为本次研究的人工撰文语料库 (Artificial Translation Corpus, ATC) 。我们借助目前较为常用的谷歌翻译软件, 将上述论文的中文摘要译成英语, 作为本研究的机器翻译语料库 (Machine Translation Corpus, MTC) 。应指出的是, 本文所列举的机译错误截止于完稿时, 由于谷歌团队后续
8、的工作, 某些错误可能已得到修正。 1.2、 研究方法 根据国际知名检索机构对英文摘要中术语的撰写要求, 以及海洋学论文摘要的语言特征, 本文将会对两个语料库中同一摘要术语进行对比分析, 并针对有错句, 建立一个包含摘要原文、人工撰文、机器译文、错误剖析等四个部分组成的分析模板。 2、 结果分析 例1 原文:黄海冷水团是出现在黄海的一种独特的水文现象。6 人工撰文:Huanghai Sea Cold Water Mass (HSCWM) is a unique hydrographic phenomenon in the Huanghai Sea. 机器译文:The Yellow Sea co
9、ld water regime is a unique hydrological phenomenon that occurs in the Yellow Sea. 剖析:黄海冷水团业内公认的表达方式为Huanghai Sea Cold Water Mass, 而不是the Yellow Sea cold water regime。黄海冷水团指的是夏秋季节, 位于黄海中部洼地季节温跃层下面的一海盆尺度的低温水体。根据英语词典的解释, mass指的是a body of matter without definite shape, 即没有确定形状的一团物体, 用来形容冷水团正合适;而机器翻译所用的
10、regime指的是the characteristic conditions under which a natural, scientific, or industrial process occurs, 即某自然科学现象发生所需的条件或环境, 与黄海冷水团中一海盆尺度的低温水体意思不符。 例2 原文:研究远洋渔业的发展现状及存在的问题, 并在此基础上提出解决策略。7 人工撰文:Studying on the status quo and existing problems of pelagic fishery and based on this, putting forward count
11、ermeasures and analyzing its development trend. 机器译文:Study the development status and existing problems of offshore fisheries, and propose solutions based on this. 剖析:远洋渔业指在远离本国海岸或渔业基地的海域, 利用公海或他国资源的渔业生产活动。人工译文中pelagic一词来源于希腊语?(p?(plagos, 即公海) , 根据牛津词典对这个词的解释:connected with, or living in, the parts
12、of the sea that are far from land, 即指公海的或远洋的, 且在水产科学中, 也一般习惯使用pelagic一词;而机器翻译中的offshore 一词, 牛津词典解释为happening or existing in the sea, not far from the land, 即海上的或近海的, 并不符合远洋渔业的含义。 例3 原文:分析了目前海战场环境的保障需求与建设现状。8 人工撰文:Researches the current requirements of guarantee and the construction situation. 机器译文:A
13、nalyzed the current protection requirements and construction status of the sea battlefield environment. 剖析:据牛津词典, guarantee的解释是Something that is a guarantee of something else makes it certain that it will happen, 在本文中指海战所需的军需后勤等客观条件;而protection一词, 意为the activity of protecting someone or something, 即
14、保护, 不符合中文摘要中保障的含义。 例4 原文:紧追权是指沿海国对违反其法律、规章并从其管辖海域逃向公海的外国船舶进行追逐以拿捕的权利。9 人工撰文:The right of hot pursuit refers to the right of a coastal State to pursue and seize foreign ships which violate any of its laws and regulations and escape from the sea areas under its jurisdiction to the high seas. 机器译文:The right of hot pursuit refers to the right of a coastal State to chase after a foreign ship that violates its laws and regulations and flees from its jurisdiction over the sea to the high seas. 剖析:摘要原文中其管辖海域这一短语的中心词是海域, 管辖是修饰中心词的定语。人工译文将这个定语翻译成了短语under its jurisdic
