1、“Different” love Review of “Nettles”Love is that I love you and you love me; love is not only I love you and you love me, but also is mutual consideration, mutual understanding and mutual tolerance. True love is based on a kind heart of not disturbing and frustrating the other; true love is based on
2、 a goodwill of making the other better in the future; true love is based on a determination of protecting the other from any danger. If the three bases cannot be met, true love will sacrifice the impulse to be together and give way to the kind heart, goodwill and determination. This kind of love is
3、just eternal true love although the two may not be together physically in the end. If being together cannot make one another better although they really love each other, their love should be hidden in the deep heart and to let each other go may be the smartest and kindest way to love each other. Thi
4、s socalled true love is very different and even peculiar to those ordinary people. And before reading “Nettles”, I was one of those ordinary people.When I first read this passage, I really felt uncomfortable and disappointed since it was just beyond my imagination and expectation. When a woman who s
5、uffered severely from hypocrisy and deprivation in her family met the guy who meant a lot to her and whom she had a strong sense of devotion to in her childhood, what would happen to them? They may both feel sympathetic to their miserable experiences in the past decades and remind each other of the
6、intimate sentimental feelings between them when they were young, and then they may just rekindle the flames of romance.However, that is only my ideal fantasy. The fact is rather cruel and realistic and seemingly not understandable to me. Why they could not be together since they both knew finally th
7、at they put one another to a unique and unreplaceable place in their hearts? Their love is almost the same as others in the sentimental feelings they held and happy memory they had, but their love is different from others in the their final choices. At first, Mikes unexpectedly cold responses to the
8、 woman and his indifferent behaviors make a sharp contrast with the womans sweet memory of the intimate relationship with Mike. I wonder why Mike treated the woman like a nodding acquaintance although actually they love each other.When I read the last part of the passage, their “different” love seem
9、s more reasonable to me and finally I know that their love is more mature and genuine. Maybe I still young so personally I do not think I can do the same as they did. But anyway I really admire their love. When the guy Mike eventually chose to tell the tragedy he went through to the woman, it can pr
10、ove that Mike actually regard the woman as an unusual person in his mind. However, this tragedy also made Mike and his wife more tightly attached to each other and also made Mike choose not to disturb the current situation of the woman although he loved her very much. What was the meaning of their l
11、ove if they chose to be together at the expense of two broken families and the endless harm to their spouses and children? Even if they come together in the end, it still cannot compensate for his inner bitterness of losing his child and his guilty, and besides it may cause great harm to the woman.
12、If they really love each other, theyd better bury their love in the bottom of their heart and keep it as fresh and marvelous as that at their childhood. They still love each other but they chose to love silently.In my mind, this can be called true love which have to sacrifice the impulse to be toget
13、her and give way to a kind heart, a goodwill and a determination. That they chose not to contact each other is the best ending of the passage and of their relationship. Actually we should try to be more mature in the face of love, and try to do what we can to give the other the best result even if sometimes we have to leave.2
