Besides from
2、the different ways of thinking, the characteristics of the internet neologism such as innovation, humor, vulgarity and colloquialism have caused a variety of difficulties in translation. And all sorts of acronyms and abbreviations also bring translating troubles. But we are lucky to find that Nidas
3、functional equivalence is the most suitable theory for internet neologism. Based on the introduction of the basic theory of internet neologism and funtional equivanlance, the present paper concludes three methods to translate: transliteration, literal translation and paraphrase. By using them, some

7、 policy, people can afford computers easily which have been playing a more and more important roll in peoples life. Because of global integration, the computer becomes a necessary tool to exchange information of economy and policy.Thanks to the progress of science and technology, a large number of n
8、ew words are produced. At the same time science makes some old words with new meanings. Such as: Fax, laser printer, videophone, IC (integrated circuit), test - tube baby (IVF). Familiar with the vocabulary has also gained new meaning, such as: “Window” a Windows PC meaning widely known, and the “mo
9、use” people soon associate “mouse”. The application of computer technology has spread to every corner of life, is changing our ways of life.We could see people surfing the internet wherever you are, weather through laptop or telephone. Gradually, some new terms related new phenomena spring up, inclu
10、ding associated with both new things and certain tough problems. All in all, Network new words are those widely used terms created by people when they using the internet. From this angle, those new terms are not only a social phenomena, but important communication tool to pass information or express
11、 ideas of the media; so it is necessary to find a better way to translate them, so one of the obvious traits in the translating will be involved about the culture and custom. In another word, to be effective in doing so, some theory must be chose to guide in translating, though it is hard to select
12、from so many schools of translation theories. From practical use of new terms, I believe Nidas functional equivalence is the best option, because itfocuses on receptors reaction. Nida supports that “with the dynastic relationship that the relationship between receptor and message should be substanti
13、ally the same that which existed between the original receptor and message, that means the translation should be have almost effect as the original one” (Brill, 1964:54）. Some scholars has studied on this subject, as Liao Weixiong cites in his paper that “it is practical to apply functional equivale
14、nce because it enhance communication and exchange cultural differences” (张廖伟, 2010) . In this paper we prove the necessity to apply Nidas translation theory - the functional equivalence to translate them, and then come to new strategies to translate new internet terms. At first the definition and th
15、e characteristics of new internet terms are offered. Then the following part will detail elaboration for Nidas functional equivalence. In this part we will give best evidences to identify the necessity of applying this theory.
