This article also analysis the two womens spiritual pursuit and individuality, let alone their looks, their views on money and their management abilities.They both lived in a precarious society. Wang Xifeng lived in the later period of feudal society when capitalism was beginning
5、to show its bud. At that time, “drawing water to ones mill” was an important way to make money. To a woman living in a feudal family it was no easy job to struggle for a better tomorrow. Scarletts was a time at War Between the States when it was a symbol of identity to be active in the upper society
6、, where money was its only support. Scarlett lived in a society which was built on money where material pursuit aroused her desires. Both Wang Xifeng and Scarlett were the respective result of their character compromising with the surroundings where they lived. However, we do see their personality c
