It comes on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month .On that day we usually eat a big dinner and eat moon cakes. There are many kinds of moon cakes. They are small roun

2、d cakes with meat, nuts or something sweet inside . Eating moon cakes has been our custom. Families staying outside in the open air have a big dinner and moon cakes. The most important thing is looking at the moon. On that day, the moon looks brighter and rounder. We call this moon the full moon. On

3、 that day, families get together, so we call this day Getting together Day.,Abstract,The Name Of Mid-Autumn Festival,In China, every season is divided into Meng(孟), Zhong(仲), Ji(季) three parts,so the Mid-Autumn Festival also calls Zhongqiu(仲秋). August 15th, the moon is rounder and brighter than that

4、 in the other months, so its called “Yue Xi(月夕)” .This night, people look up the bright moon, will naturally look forward to family reunion. People who are far away from home, also take this way to express their thoughts of home and family affection. Therefore, the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as

5、 “Reunion.“(团圆节),The Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional festivity(庆典) for both the Han and minority nationalities. The custom of worshipping(崇拜) the moon can be traced back(追溯到) as far as the ancient Xia and Shang Dynasties (2000 B.C.-1066 B.C.). In the Zhou Dynasty(1066 B.C.-221 B.C.), people hol

6、d ceremonies to greet winter and worship the moon . It becomes very prevalent(盛行) in the Tang Dynasty(618-907 A.D.) that people enjoy and worship the full moon. In the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279 A.D.), however, people send round moon cakes to their relatives as gifts in expression of their bes

7、t wishes of family reunion(团聚). When it becomes dark, they look up at the full silvered(银色的) moon or go sightseeing on lakes to celebrate the festival. Since the Ming (1368-1644 A.D. ) and Qing Dynasties (1644-1911A.D.), the custom of Mid-Autumn Festival celebration becomes unprecedented(前所未有的) popu

Together with the celebration there appear some special customs in different parts of the country, such as burning incense, planting Mid-Autumn trees, lighting lanterns on towers and fire dragon dances. However, the custom of playing under the moon is not so popular as it used to be nowadays, b

9、ut it is not less popular to enjoy the bright silvered moon. Whenever the festival sets in(到来), people will look up at the full silvered moon, drinking wine to celebrate their happy life or thinking of their relatives and friends far from home, and extending(给予,提供) all of their best wishes to them.,
