10、.Past continuous tense with while and when1 When two long actions went on at the same time, we can use the past continuous tense in both clauses and while to join them. People were running wildly while pieces of glass and bricks(砖块砖块) were falling down.2 When something else happened while a longer a
11、ction was going on, we can use when or while to join the two actions. We use the past continuous tense for the longer action and the simple past tense for the shorter action. The earthquake started while I was doing some shopping. I was trying to find my way out when I suddenly heard some noise abov
12、e me. 3 We use a comma(逗号逗号) to separate the two clauses if while or when comes at the beginning of the sentence.
