9、葛恩) are a popular tourist destination.Ekhiingol is a small, isolated oasis in the Southern Gobi, surrounded by barren(贫瘠的)desert. In communist times this used to be an important agricultural research station, but now only about 20 families remain. Here grow tomatoes, cucumber, watermelon, peppers an
10、d some fruit, which are sold locally. Getting the produce to other markets is nearly impossible, as there are no flights, and the provincial capital is 400 km away along a rough dirt track. The Gobi desert, one of the worlds great deserts, covers much of the southern part of Mongolia. It is a vast z
11、one of desert and desert steppe(干草原)(干草原) covering almost 30 percent of the country. Unlike the Sahara there are few sand dunes in the Gobi; rather youll find large barren expenses of gravel(碎石)(碎石) plains and rocky outcrops(露出地面的岩石层)(露出地面的岩石层). The area is often imagined as a lifeless desert, as in
12、 many other parts of the world. In reality, most of the Gobi Desert is a land of steppes and it is the home for camel breeders(饲养员)(饲养员) rich with wildlife and vegetation(植物;草木)(植物;草木). Mongolians consider that there are 33 different Gobi, where sandy desert occupies only 3 percent of the total terr
13、itory. The climate is extreme with 40 degrees in summer and severe winters. Precipitation averages less than 100 mm per year, while some areas only get rain once every two or three years. Strong winds up to 140 km/h make travel dangerous in spring and fall. Great Gobi National Park is one of the lar
14、gest World Biospheres(生物圈)(生物圈), with an area larger than Switzerland. It contains the last remaining wild Bacterian (two-humped) camels, wild ass, and a small population of Gobi bears, the only desert-inhabiting bear.The Mongolian two-humped Bactrian camel, nicknamed among the local people as the G
15、obi Ship, inhabits the Gobi Desert area. It has become a tradition in Mongolia to organise a Camel Festival and Camel Polo competition every year. It is possible to a camel riding trips. BrazilBrazil is a massive country situated on the equator in South America, with much of the land surface covered in tropical rainf

The rainforest is breading ground thousands of varied species of fauna and flora, and has some of the most attractive wooded landscape in the world.The rainforest of Brazil is also home to the largest rives in the world, The Amazon. The Amazon has 1500 types of fish and is also home to croco
18、diles, freshwater dolphins and turtles. The area around the Amazon is known as the Amazon Basin.The Amazon basin is a massive jungle with extreme growth, due to its exceptionally warm weather and heavy tropical rain. Home to some of the worlds most colourful wildlife the Amazon basin has 75,000 diff
19、erent types of trees that grow extremely high creating an excellent canopy that supports a vast population of monkeys, bats, all types of birds, tree frogs as well as providing cover for many different plants. The Amazon region is home to over 2.5 million different insects and over 40,000 different
20、plants. There are many different ways of exploring the region and seeing the jungle. One of the greatest ways to see the jungle without disturbing the natural habitat is to take a cruise along the Amazon and its many small rivers.To get real close to nature and to experience the way of life that man
21、y Brazilian tribal people live, trekking through the jungle will be a remarkable experience. Trekking is far from easy but the jungle tour operators offer very good safaris.Due to the expansion of agriculture and the growth of cities and towns the Amazon region is constantly under threat from defore
