Goubuli steamed buns were first sold in Tianjin about 150 years ago. A local man

2、 by the name of Gouzi (Dog) worked as an apprentice in a shop selling baozi (steamed buns). After three years, he set up his own baozi shop. Because his buns were so delicious, he soon had a thriving business with more and more people coming to buy his buns. As hardworking as Gouzi was, he could not

3、 keep up with demand so his customers often had to wait a long time to be served. Impatient, some people would call out to urge him on, but as he was so busy preparing the buns, he didnt answer. People therefore came to call his buns Goubuli, meaning “Gouzi pays no attention.” This eccentric name, h

4、owever, has had very good promotional effects, and has been used ever since. But it was an arresting face, pointed of chin, square of jaw. Her eyes were pale green without a touch of

12、 hazel, starred with bristly black lashes and slightly tilted at the ends. Above them, her thick black brows slanted upward, cutting a startling oblique line in her magnolia-white skin - that skin so prized by Southern women and so carefully guarded with bonnets, veils and mittens against hot Georgi

But for all the modesty of her spreading skirts, the demureness of hair netted smoothly into a chignon and the quietness of small white hands folded in her lap, her true self was poorly concealed.Example 3:My family live in an enclosed yard, which is divided into two parts by our house: the

14、front yard and the backyard. Our backyard is dominated by a huge old live oak tree. The base of the trunk measures approximately ten feet around. The thick muscular trunk rises solidly for about eight feet and then separates into four main branches. From these, the lower branches spread out horizont

15、ally over the ground, reaching into the neighbors yards. The main branches continue to rise, up and up, where they compete with each other for air and sunlight. From these heights, the neighborhood cardinals and blue jays sing to each other, keeping a sharp eye out for cats. As the birds sway in the

16、 wind, they look as if they are riding a ship across a gently swelling ocean. From these heights, too, it is easy to see the variety of shrubs and sweet-smelling flowers lining the two long sides of our rectangular yard, the small walkway along the back of the house, and the back fence that runs along the alley.Example 4:When I was a
