He was able to/ could swim when he was five. 2) can 只用在现在时和过去时中,在将来时或完成时中表示“能力”时,一般要用shall/ will be able to 或 have/ has been able to,如:The boy will be able to go to school next year. 这男孩明年就能上学了。I will be able to pass the
