2、 article makes a tentative analysis of content and the signify of the latest CET test reform, with college English teaching theory and practice, states its enlightenment and the influence to the college English teaching practice. With changing teaching model and improving efficiency, we should take
3、the positive effective measures to coordinate this test reform, impel the reform and development of college English teaching.CET4 is a teaching means supplementary to college English teaching, but it has been found to have not only beneficial effects but also harmful backwash on college English teac
4、hing. Test results, on analysis have shown that the testeesCET4 achievements are not always in line with their real level in English studies. So we should make good use of its beneficial effects to improve our college English teaching.CET4 and CET6 is a kind of large-scale standardized test. Its rel
5、iability and scientific nature proves whether CET4 and CET6 can exactly provide the scientific method for testing the English level of the students. The purpose of this thesis is to improve the effect of the college English test, impel the teaching program carrying out and make that test serve bette
6、r for teaching. Meanwhile, this thesis discusses the statistical method of CET4 and CET6, proves if it can provide the necessary dynamic information and offers fundamental research of impelling the language test and large-scale standardized test spreading. . Present situation of the research Since t
7、he implement of CET4 in 1987 and CET6 in 1989, the scale of CET has become larger and larger and gradually become the largest single-course test in the world. However, the drawbacks of such testing systems have already been exposed clearly and criticism on them also accumulated. It is high time to r
8、eform CET Band 4 and Band 6. To strengthen the effect on teaching. CET4 and CET6 have still been improving. So that they can be in the service of teaching well. In February, 2005, Ministry of Education carried out reform with the largest scale so far on them and adopts new test type formally. With t
9、he publication of “college English course teaching requirement”, the reform of college English teaching had commenced formally. After entering WTO, its needs a higher request for talented persons international language communicating ability, teaching mode, course establishment and teachers developme
10、nt. Each high college should improve the process of college English teaching reform actively according to its own situation.IV. The content and methodology of researchi. content The college English Test is a national, large-scale standardized test, administered on behalf of the Ministry of Education

As a criterion-related norm-referenced test, the purpose of the CET is to make assessment of the English proficiency of the students and provide feedback information for the teachers to improve classroom teaching. The CET as an educational test serves language teaching. Because of its pro
12、fessional quality and its strong social impact, the CET had been widely accepted by teaching. In this paper, the author analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of CET4. Items and the good sides of the newly-altered items in CET4, indicating that this adoption is positive, progressive and instructi
13、ve in embodying the spirits of English Teaching Syllabus and advancing college English teaching, analyses the new question patterns and suggests some directions for the further reform of college English teaching. College English Test had undergone great changes in terms of test contest, grading syst
14、em and management system. The changes and their potential influence will be of great significance to improving English teaching and avoiding the negative effect caused by the test-oriented teaching practice.CET4&6 had a lot of problems, Such as changing college English teaching into teaching for tes
15、t, reducing the education to synthesis application ability of college students, fettering the reform of college English teaching method, influencing the learning of specialized course and not benefiting of special English and so on. Therefore, the suggestion is that we should weaken rate of CET4 and
16、 CET6 in teaching evaluation from system, improve the validity of examination, adjust the difficulty degree of examination, enhance assessable fair, adjust the test contents, and advance special English teaching. ii. methodology In order to get more and more information, I compare recent CET4 topics, research on what have been reformed and find out if it is useful for us who must have CET4 examination to improve our English ability.
