1、“When”不变的形式，多变的用法高考试题常常涉及到when的用法考查,可见其重要性。下面分析高考试题关于when的考查情况,结合教学中学生在使用when时所出现的几个极易混淆的问题进行对比归类以便从中找出when用法的规律。一、 when 用在特殊疑问句中（通常when被命名为疑问副词）。When can you come back? 你何时能回来?When did you go to school yesterday?二、when用在并列句中（when为并列连词）when 表示 “就在此刻 (and just)”、“突然(and suddenly)”之意, 为并列连词, 连接两个并列分句,
2、 其中 when 前面的分句再现了 when 后面分句动作发生的时间或背景。一般来说, when前面的分句在下面四种情况下, when 才有这种并列连词的功能。1. when前面的分句的谓语动词用了过去进行时。例如:1) I was thinking of this when I heard my name called.我正想着这件事，突然听到叫我的名字。2) He was going to run away when the policemen came.他正想逃跑，警察突然出现了。3) The children were swimming in the lake, when sudden
3、ly it began to rain. 孩子们正在湖中游泳, 天突然下起雨来。2. when 前面的分句的谓语部分用了 “be (just) about to”, “be (just) on the point”等结构。例如: 1) She was just about to say something more when she noticed the sullen look on his face. 她刚想再说些什么, 突然看到了他阴沉的脸色。2) We were about to leave when he came. 我们刚要离开, 突然他来了。3. when 前面的分句的谓语部分用
4、了“be + 介词短语”结构。例如:1) He was on his way to a lecture when a tourist stopped him and asked him for directions. 他正走在去听课的路上, 突然一名游客拦住了他问路。2) The mother and the seven-year-old boy were inside the house when the shooting occurred. 这位母亲和她七岁的男孩正在家里的时候, 枪击事件发生了。4. when 前面的分句的谓语动词用了过去完成时或过去完成进行时。例如:1) We had
