Song ci is a miracle of the history of Chinese literature; it has been praised by Chinese people for hundreds of years. To translate Song ci into English in a better way , and make more Western readers understand an
3、d appreciate it correctly, is of great significance.For the above facts, I select the subject of “A Comparative Study of Two English Versions of Shengshengman from the Perspective of Skopostheory” as the title of my paper.I hope by studying this topic we can help to translate Song ci into English an
4、d spread the unique literary around the world, to make more and more westerners to understand and appreciate this unique Chinese literary form. Then, I will show it to you. In the main part of this paper, I divide it into five parts, as the introduction, General Introduction to Song Ci and the Trans
5、lation of Song Ci, the writing background of Shengshengman and the two English versions of Shengshengman, a contrast and analysis between the two English versions and the conclusion.Part one, presents an introduction to the basic concepts and the studying purpose.Part two,presents a general introduc
6、tion about Song ci and the translation of Song ci.Part three,presents a writing background of Li Qingzhaos Shengshengman and its two English versions.Part four, presents a comparison and contrast of the two English versions.Part five,drows a conclusion.When translators are translating the same work,
7、 for their purposes of translation are different from each others, their translation methods will also be different. Li Qingzhaos Shengshengman was undoubtedly the classic, many translators and scholars make great contribution to the C-E translation of this work over years. This thesis is expected t
8、o analyze the two English versions of Shengshengman from the perspective of skopostheory, to show how the translation purposes affect the translators.Through the comparative analysis of the two English versions of Shengshengman, the author found that the two versions are consistent to their intended
9、 purposes. Lin Yutangs translation is more faithful to the original; and Xu Yuangchongs version is more common and affluent, and more acceptable to general readship . This thesis reaches a conclusion that the key to translate Song ci successfully and choose appropriate translation methods is whether

Last but not least, I am keen on the study of human nature and the profound significance and instructions for us from John Milton. For the above facts, I select the Heavenly
