1、The Truman DoctrineThe gravity of the situation which confronts the world today necessitates my appearance before a joint session of the Congress. 2、 situation, which I present to you at this time for your consideration and decision, concerns Greece and Turkey. 我这想请你们考虑和决定现今情势中的一个局面,它是跟土耳其和希腊有关的。The United States has received from the Greek Government an urgent appeal for financial and economic assistance. 美国业已接到希腊政府有关财政和经济援助的紧急要求 The very exist

11、e our objectives, however, unless we are willing to help free peoples to maintain their free institutions and their national integrity against aggressive movements that seek to impose upon them totalitarian regimes. This is no more than a frank recognition that totalitarian regimes imposed upon free

The Government of the United States has made frequent p

14、rotests against coercion and intimidation in violation of the Yalta agreement in Poland, Rumania, and Bulgaria.
