1、Culture is a big blanket which contains lots of things like food preference, greeting manners, thinking method. Culture is invisible but able to be perceived. To make the questionnaire well organized, we divided questions into several parts and each part reflects certain culture differences. They ar
2、e diet, literature, family, sex and death. According to the branches, as for literature, the first three questions came to our mind.(ppt) .What is the most difficult part do you think when reading materials about Eastern/Western country? We also picked out a specific character which eastern and west
3、ern culture share-dragon. The more detailed the questions are, the clearer conclusions we can draw. We connected family with college students to make the questionnaire relate to ourselves tightly. (ppt) the sensitive points between east and west are different and neither the attitude of facing them.
4、 Sex and death are topics we eastern people really do not want to talk about. But we still ask questions about the topics and want to find some interesting things we didnt expect.(ppt) At last, since people have noticed that there are plenty of conflicts and collisions between eastern and western cu
5、lture, what can we do to adapt to it.(ppt)We divide the people interviewed into three groups according to the geography. They are American group, European group and Asian group. Though both of European and American belong to westerns, there are many differences between them. Diet culture is the most
6、 common part of cultures. We investigated some people about the right time to show up at a party. Nearly 90% of Asian would arrive on time. But in west, two distinctive results present. The American prefers to arrive 20 minutes late than arriving on time. Its amazing that European would like to arri
7、ve on time which is the same as Asian. In general, all the people we investigated feel that literature is the most difficult part. When reading some material, they are often confused about the deep meaning of an idiom or a totem. For instant, dragon is a classic character in both western and eastern
8、 legend, but what they represent for are totally opposite. In the east, dragons are holy and stand for extreme authority. However, western people think they are evil and dangerous. Family is an inevitably part in a lifetime. When graduated from college, almost 2/3 of young people decide to move out.
9、 Even if they have to do more than two part-time jobs or rent house with others, they still want to live an independent life without parents. Look at east society, you will find that 70% of young people choose to live with their parents because they can enjoy the convenience brought by parents. The
10、styles of cemeteries in east and west are obviously different. For American and European, their tradition is put flowers in front of the graves and dont plant trees around graves. On contrast, eastern people like cypress, which air good hopes and high spirits to the dead.Although there are so many d
11、ifferences or even collision between east and west, we still have something in common. Maybe the climate change in the earth is so poignant and cant be ignored that all the people we in the survey choose the weather to talk with a stranger that also remind human beings to strengthen the power to sav
12、e the environment.In our survey, we came up with a question“what is your opinion about homosexuality”. We got many answers about this question. But I divided these answers into three parts. Some people like Chinese and Koreans are against the topic of homosexuality. They answered they would get grea
13、t shame at talking about the homosexuality. Also some people like Mexicans and Japanese answered that its none of their business. In addition, some people who are from western countries answered that homosexuality is a common topic between the communications of different people. For example, a woman
14、 from USA said: “I dont mind the topic about homosexuality. We are very open about LGBT(lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender).” Also a woman from Germany said: “It doesnt matter. If they love each other, they can be together.” From the result of this survey, we can find that people from different cou
15、ntries expressed their different opinions about homosexuality. I think there are two reasons that can explain these differences. Firstly, the government plays an influential role in the society. In the western countries, the government admitted the phenomenon that two people of the same sex can get
16、marriage. But in the eastern countries, there are still many limitations about homosexuality. Secondly, the traditional customs still occupy the peoples minds. Most of people cannot accept or stand the homosexuality. As far as I am concerned, I agree with the women from Germany. If they love each other, they can live together even get marriage. According to the survey, there really exists culture difference between western and eastern culture in some area
