Show Ss several pictures of some famouse places of a country.2. Ask Ss to guess which country it will be according to the p

4、ictures(6 countries in all).Students activities:Guessing game: let Ss share their knowledge about the places of the countries.Purpose: Widening Ss cultural knowledge and prompt Ss interests in the unit.Stage II. Warming UpTime: 7 minsInteraction: whole classSkills:listening & speakingTeacher activit

5、ies:1. Ask Ss to guess the match on P12 of the text book.2. Listen to the tape and check whether their guess right or not.3. Ask Ss questions on P12. 2.4. Listen to the tape and choose the right answer of exercise 4.(Three times: The first time, grasp the main idea of the dialogue; The second time,

6、making choice; The third time, checking answers.)Students activities:1. Talking about their favourate countries and places in the world.2. Practice their listening.Purpose: Improve Ss speaking skills and listening skills while sharing their idears about the places and countries.Stage III. Listening&

7、SpeakingTime: 32 minsInteraction: groups,pairsSkills: listeningTeacher activities:1. Learn new words: (1). teacher give some sentences on the screen, and let Ss guess the meaning of the underline words or phrases according to the sentences.(2). Ask Ss to have discussion with their group members, the

8、n give the definite meaning of the words and expressions.(3). Ask Ss to give their answers, and teacher correct them, or let other Ss correct them.2. Listen to the tape and finish the exercise 3 on P13.(3 times also)3. Practice the dialogue in pairs for a while, then read it together.4. Ss in pairs,

9、 follow the examples on the book and make dialogues. They can choose anywhere they like.5. Teacher show some pictures of Seattle, and ask Ss how their feel about the city. The new words on P14 will be used and teached in this step.6. Listening to the tape for 3 times and finish the exercise 5 and 6.

10、 (before listening, teacher should ask Ss to get familiar with the passage and sentences)7. Finish the exercise 7 in groups. 8. Ss in pairs to introduct a place he/she like to the other. They should use as many new words and expressions as possible in their talking.9. Teachers check several pairs an

Practice listening and speaking.Purpose:Improve Ss speaking skills and listening skills, and let them master the new words and expressions and try to use them.Stage IV. Summary and Homework assignment(2 mins)1. Conclude the important points of this period.2. Ask Ss to write a short paragragh to describe a place they are interested in by using as many new words and expressions as possible in their writing.
