This Chapter provides a basis upon which to consider the nature and significance of management itself, together with a look at its development up to the present time and upon
6、which the future may be extrapolated.Chapter 2: Strategic managementThe approach to the Chapter assumes a basic understanding of strategic management from previous studies, consequently the Chapter will recap the basic elements of strategic management, it will then concentrate upon the theories and
7、techniques of the three main elements, strategic analysis, strategic planning and strategic implementation. Chapter 3: MarketingMarketing is treated from a modern perspective. It builds upon the accepted fundamentals of marketing but with an emphasis upon the increased importance of relationship mar
8、keting. Chapter4: Motivation, Job Satisfaction and Work PerformanceMotivation, as with ones basic attitude towards employees, is fundamental to your approach to management, these are however attitudes that are formed early in ones working life and which are often based upon unsubstantiated opinions,
9、 either ones own or those of respected others. Chapter 5: Human Resource Management (HRM) The Chapter on Human Resource Management must be read in conjunction with motivation as the two interact with each other constantly and inseparably. Chapter 6: LeadershipThis topic interfaces and interacts with
10、 many of the other topics, it is a topic that is covered in elementary courses of management but is an aspect of management that is often only superficially understood. The approach taken in this Chapter is to explore the factors that influence leadership and thereby provide a more informed theoreti

12、number of ways and there exists a large number of formal definitions of management. It is reflective of management itself that there is no single universally accepted definition of management, the absence of a single definition of management provides a useful lesson to those purporting to become man
13、agers or those studying management. That management means different things to different people, the subject must therefore be treated on a contingent basis. The complexity of the various definitions of management varies quite considerably as does their emphasis. Some definitions are relatively simpl
14、e, such as:achieving objectives through the activities of others.Or more expansively,Management is the process of designing and maintaining an environment in which individuals, working together in groups, efficiently accomplish selected aims.
