节奏:(1) 可以忽略的专有名词:ist/phy/iogy/ism小定语:

The way( people hold to the belief that a fun-filled, pain-free life equals happiness actually )reduces where chances of ever attaining real happiness.1有hold 、equals、reduces三个谓语动词,由于引导词后

It is an interactive feature that lets visitors key in job criteria such as location, title and salary, then E-mails them when a matching position is posted in the database.1主句谓语动词是let和e-mail2关注强调句

He says| our countrys educational system is in the grips |of people |who “joyfully” and “militantly” proclaim their hostility to intellect and| their

、 eagerness to identify with children |who show the least intellectual promise.1用六大语法砍开句子,并变成设问句:“他说,说什么”“他说我们的教育被掌控,被什么掌控”“被人掌控,被什么人掌控”2并列成分标号3副词可以省略不看4方向判断:show the least intellectual promise“显示出最少的智力承诺”,虽然不知道是什么意思,但是知道这些孩子智力低下,是一个负向概念,和并列,是一个负向概念,就是一个负向概念,而show the least intellectual promise是一个负向概

These leaders are living proof| that prevention works and that we can manage the health problems |that come naturally with age. Though/despite/inspire(but

、)(but后面是重点)Although it ruled that| there is no constitutional right to physician -assisted suicide, the court in effect supported the medical principle |of “double effect” , a centuries-old moral principle holding| that an action having 2 effects|a good one that is intended and a harmful one that is

、 foreseen|is permissible if the actor intends only the good effect.a centuries-old moral principle holding| that an action having 2 effects|a good one that is intended and a harmful one that is foreseen|is permissible if the actor intends only the good effect不仅在but后,而且是同位语,重点二 全文处理(读文章结构)1.

Text 2 Over the past century, all kinds of unfairness and discrimination have been condemned or made illegal. But one insidious form continues to thrive: alphabetism. This, for those as yet unaware of such a disad

、vantage, refers to discrimination against those whose surnames begin with a letter in the lower half of the alphabet. It has long been known that a taxi firm called AAAA cars has a big advantage over Zodiac cars when customers thumb through their phone directories. Less well known is the advantage t

、hat Adam Abbott has in life over Zo Zysman. English names are fairly evenly spread between the halves of the alphabet. Yet a suspiciously large number of top people have surnames beginning with letters between A and K. Thus the American president and vice-president have surnames starting with B and

、C respectively; and 26 of George Bushs predecessors (including his father) had surnames in the first half of the alphabet against just 16 in the second half. Even more striking, six of the seven heads of government of the G7 rich countries are alphabetically advantaged (Berlusconi, Blair, Bush, Chir

、ac, Chrtien and Koizumi). The worlds three top central bankers (Greenspan, Duisenberg and Hayami) are all close to the top of the alphabet, even if one of them really uses Japanese characters. As are the worlds five richest men (Gates, Buffett, Allen, Ellison and Albrecht). Can this merely be coinci

、dence? One theory, dreamt up in all the spare time enjoyed by the alphabetically disadvantaged, is that the rot sets in early. At the start of the first year in infant school, teachers seat pupils alphabetically from the front, to make it easier to remember their names. So short-sighted Zysman junior gets stuck in the back row, and is rarely asked the improving questions posed by those insensitive teachers. At the time the alphabetically disadvantaged may think they have had a lucky escape. Yet the result may be wo
