1、刘畅词汇笔记（ 11） Part1今天我们讲一个简单的几何图形： circle 回忆一下关于圆的单词： diameter=dia （相对） + metre （长度）名词 “直径 ” dialogue=dia （相对） + logue （talk ）名词 “对话” radius=radi （根，辐射） + us （名词尾缀）名词 “半径 ” radiation=radi + ation 名词 “辐射” radical=radic （根） + al 根“本上的 ” eradicate=e （out）+ radic （根） + ate 动词“根除” circle1 名词 “圆，圈子 ”，如 a wi
2、de circle of friends 一个广泛的朋友圈2 动词“环绕 ”词根 circu ，circul ， circum=circlecircular=circul （圆） + ar “圆形的，环形的 ”，如 a circular table 一张圆形的桌子， a circular bus route 一条环形的共车路线 circulate =circul （圆） + ate1 动词 “循环 ”，例： Blood circulates through the body.血液在我们的身体中循环。2 动词 “流传，传播 ”，例： The news of her death circulate

4、it （go ）走出去，名词 “出口 ” transit=trans （across ）+ it （ go ）从一个跨越到另一个地方，名词 “运输” visit=vis （see） + it （go ）走过去看一看，参观”initiate=in （内部） + it（go）+ I + ate 内部决定后再出发，动词 “发动”，如 initiate a social reform 发动一个社会改革其形容词为 initial 最“初的 ”，例： The initial talk form the basis of later agreement. 最初 的谈话形成了后来协议的基础。其副词为 Init
5、ially 最初“，开始 ”，例： Initially, I opposed （=op （against ）+ pose （ put） the project, but later I changed my minds.开始时我反对这项计划，但是后我改变了主意。其名词为initiative主动性”，搭配do sth.on one s own initiativ主动做某事 transition=trans （across）+ it（go）+ ation 名词“过渡”，如 the transition from childhood to adult 从童年过渡到成年circumstance=cir
6、cum + st （stand）+ ance 名词“境况”，如 under no circumstance 在 任何情况下决不，例： Under no circumstance should you lend him some money. 无 论如何你都不要借给他钱。（要用倒装）表示环境的单词还有：surroundings 环“境（物质环境） ”， surround 动词 “包围”， surrounding 周“围的 ” environment “环境（物质环境和精神环境） ”，如 a happy family environment 一个愉 快的家庭环境还有个单词也要提一下： compet
7、itive atmosphere 竞争环境， atmosphere=atmo（atom） + sphere （球体）， 大气，氛围”，女口 romantic atmosphere 浪漫的氛围 补充一个词根 cycle=circle hemicycle “半圆”， hemisphere “半球”recycle=re （ again ） + cycle （圆）动词 “回收 ”，如 recycle waste paper 回收废纸 其形容词为 recyclable 可“回收的 ”bicycle=bi （双） + cycle （圆） “自行车 ”词根 bi 表示双bilingual school 双词
8、学校bimonthly magazine 双月刊这两个国家联combine=com （ together ） + bi （双） + ne 把两个事物放在一起，动词 “联合，结合 ”， 例：The two coun tries comb ined to fight aga inst their com mon en emy.合起来去对抗共同的敌人。词根 tri 表示三 triangle=tri （三） + angle （角） “三角形 ” 词根 angle 表示角，如 rectangle 长“方形 ” 词根 rect=right ，straight 正，直 correct 形容词 “正确的 ”，动词 “纠正 ”，如 correct spelling mistakes 纠正拼写错误 rectify 动词“纠正，整顿 ”，如 rectify the style of work 纠正工作作风
