3、thewallthicknessincreaseswithlargerSCH.ForagivenSCH,theODincreaseswithincreasingNPSwhilethewallthicknessincreasesorstaysconstant.Pipesizesaredocumentedbyanumberofstandards,includingAPI5L,ANSI/ASMEB36.10MintheUS,BS1600andBSEN10255intheUnitedKingdomandEurope,andISO65internationally.ForNPSof5andlarger,
4、theDNisequaltotheNPSmultipliedby25(not25.4).Themostcommonlyusedschedulestodayare40,80,and160.Thereisacommonlyheldbeliefthattheschedulenumberisanindicatoroftheservicepressurethatthepipecantake.Forexample,theMcGrawHillPipingHandbooksaystheschedulenumbercanbeconvertedtopressurebydividingthescheduleby10
5、00andmultiplyingbytheallowablestressofthematerial.However,thisisnottruePressureratingactuallygoesdownwithincreasingNPSandconstantschedule.Thevariousstandardsforpipeschedulearenotidentical.Frequentlysomesizes一orevenentireschedules一arepresentinsomestandardsbutnotothers.Whendifferentstandardsdooverlap,
