1、The talking eggs Once there was a bad woman who had two daughters. Their names were Rose and Rebecca. Rose was bad, but Rebecca was good. The mother liked Rose better, because she understood her.she made Rebecca do all the work while Rose played all day. One day the mother sent Rebecca to the well t

She was taking water from the well when an old woman came to her. “Please give me some water,” the old woman said, “ I am thirsty.” “OK, maam.” Rebecca said, “ here is some water.” “ Thank you, my child.” The old woman said, “now I am not thirsty any longer. You are a good girl.” A
3、 few days later the mother was angry about something. She hit Rebecca with the broom and said, “ Go away. I dont want to see you any more.” Rebecca was afraid of her mother. And she ran into the woods. She cried because she didnt know where to go. Then she met the same old woman that she had seen at
4、 the well. “ My child, why have you been crying?” the old woman asked. “ Oh, auntie.” Rebecca said, “ mama beat me and told me not to come home anymore. But I dont know where to go.” “ come with me, my child. Ill give you supper and a bed to sleep in. but you have to promise not to laugh at anything
5、.”The old woman took Rebeccas hand, and they began to walk through the woods. After a time Rebecca saw two arms. The arms were fighting. She thought it was strange and funny, but she said nothing, and she did not laugh. Later she saw two legs fighting and finally she saw two heads fighting.“will you
6、 still go with me?”asked the old woman. “yes ,” said Rebecca.At last they arrived at the old womans home. They ate their supper and went to bed. The next morning the old woman said, “ You must go home now, but because you are a good girl. I want to give you a gift. Go to the chicken house and take s
7、ome eggs. Take the ones that say, Take me! you must not take the ones that say Dont take me! As you walk home, throw the eggs behind your back to break them.”Rebecca walked home, throwing the eggs behind her back. Many pretty things came out of the eggs. There were pieces of gold, diamonds and many
8、pretty dresses. She picked them all up, so she had many pretty things of her own. Her mother was very glad to see her.The next day the mother said to Rose, “ You must go to the woods, and find the old woman. You must have pretty things too.”Rose went into the woods and met the old woman. She agreed
9、to follow her to her home. On the way she saw the arms, the legs, and the heads fighting, and she laughed. The old woman said, “ My child, you are not a good girl.”Rose slept in the old womans house one night. The next morning, the old woman said to her, “ You must go home now. go to the chicken hou
10、se and take only the eggs that say, take me!”Rose went to the chicken house and took all the eggs that said, “Dont take me.” She put them into her pockets and went away with them.As she walked home, she broke the eggs. Insides were snakes and frogs. Her mother became so angry that she sent her away. She told her to go and not come any more and live in the woods by herself. Oh, so bad!This story shows that the good will be rewarded while the bad will be punished sooner or later.
