2、thearrivalofadurablepeace.Therefore,inordertosetthepeacetermsforthepost-warworld,thealliedvictorsincludedPortugaldecidedtoholdtheParisPeaceConferencetodiscussvariousoptionsanddevelopaseriesoftreaties.Portugalgovernmentbelievesthatlong-termpeacefulsystemisundoubtedlywhatthecurrentworldneedsmostandtha
3、tmaintainingpeaceandorderoftheworldarethemostpressing.Meanwhile,governmenthighlyconcernsthepost-warGermanyproblemandthinksthathandlingitmustbecautiousandappropriate.Theinternationalcommunityhasheldlargeandsmallconferencesandputforwardquiteafewtreatiestoseekforthesolutiontothepost-warproblem.Earlyin1
4、644,delegatesfromseveralcountriesattendedtheWestphaliaPeaceConferenceduringtheThirtyyearsin164W8arandtheysignedthePeaceofWestphaliawhichisrecognizedasamilestoneinthehistoryofnation-state.In1814,CongressofViennawasheldtoredrawtheEuropeanpoliticalmapafterNapoleonsdefeatandtheFinalActwasadoptedtocreate
5、thepoliticalandmilitarybalanceinEurope.In1856,belligerentsoftheCrimeanWarheldthepeaceconferenceinParisandsignedtheTreatyofParistoendthewar.Portugalgovernmentalwayspaysmuchattentiontopost-warproblemandhaslongbeenworkingonreadjustinginternationalpatternswithoutdamagingitsowninterest.SoPortugalattended
6、greatinternationalconferencemanytimesandparticipatedinthesigningofsomeimportanttreaties.Forinstance,PortugaloncesignedtheTreatyofParisin1814,whichendedthewarandestablishedpeacebetweenFranceandtheSixthCoalition.PortugalaffirmstheintentionofcooperatingwithotherEntenteCountriestoestablishapeacefulnewwo
7、rldorderandconsolidatethefoundationofbalanceofpowerinEurope.Second,onthepost-warGermanyproblem,PortugalinsiststhatthecolonieswhichwereoccupiedbyGermanylikeGermanSouthWestAfricaandEastAfricashouldbedistributedtoPortugalinreturnforenteringthewar.Moreover,PortugaldemandstradingprivilegesandloweringoftariffbarrierfromGermangovernment,whichwillfacilitatethedevelopmentofeconomictradeamongnations.Tosumup,PortugalfirmlymaintainsitsselfinterestandhopesprofoundlythatParisPeaceConferencecanbecarriedonunderfairandjustcircumstances.
