4、essandbetterstandardsoflifeinlargerfreedom,WhereasMemberStateshavepledgedthemselvestoachieve,incooperationwiththeUnitedNations,thepromotionofuniversalrespectforandobservanceofhumanrightsandfundamentalfreedoms,Whereasacommonunderstandingoftheserightsandfreedomsisofthegreatestimportanceforthefullreali
5、zationofthispledge,Now,therefore,TheGeneralAssembly,ProclaimsthisUniversalDeclarationofHumanRightsasacommonstandardofachievementforallpeoplesandallnations,totheendthateveryindividualandeveryorganofsociety,keepingthisDeclarationconstantlyinmind,shallstrivebyteachingandeducationtopromoterespectforthes
6、erightsandfreedomsandbyprogressivemeasures,nationalandinternational,tosecuretheiruniversalandeffectiverecognitionandobservance,bothamongthepeoplesofMemberStatesthemselvesandamongthepeoplesofterritoriesundertheirjurisdiction.Article 1Allhumanbeingsarebornfreeandequalindignityandrights.Theyareendowedw
7、ithreasonandconscienceandshouldacttowardsoneanotherinaspiritofbrotherhood.Article 2EveryoneisentitledtoalltherightsandfreedomssetforthinthisDeclaration,withoutdistinctionofanykind,suchasrace,colour,sex,language,religion,politicalorotheropinion,nationalorsocialorigin,property,birthorotherstatus.Furth

9、allbeheldinslaveryorservitude;slaveryandtheslavetradeshallbeprohibitedinalltheirforms.Article 5Nooneshallbesubjectedtotortureortocruel,inhumanordegradingtreatmentorpunishment.Article 6Everyonehastherighttorecognitioneverywhereasapersonbeforethelaw.Article 7Allareequalbeforethelawandareentitledwithou
