1、关于英文中数字的翻译方法英语中的有些数词在汉译时可以等值翻译。 但是， 也有不少数词在汉译中不能等值翻译， 或者完全不译出来。 这种翻译处理方法是为了使汉译句子能符合汉语的表达习惯。以下分别举例说明。（ 1）等值翻译：a drop in the ocean 沧海一粟within a stones throw 一箭之遥ki11 two birds with one stone 一箭双雕A fall into the pit, a gain in your wit. 吃一堑，长一智。（ 2）不等值翻译：at sixes and sevens 乱七八糟on second thoughts 再三考虑b
2、y ones and twos 两两地，零零落落地三个臭皮匠胜过诸葛亮。Two heads are better than one.Can you come down a little? -Sorry, its one price for all.你能便宜一点卖吗？对不起，不二价.He had one over the eight after be drank only half bottle ofthe wine 。他才喝了半瓶酒就醉得七歪八倒了。（ 3）不必译出One mans meat is another mans poison. 人各有所好。Ill love you three sc
3、ore and ten. 我会一辈子爱你的。Ten to one he has forgotten it 很可能他已经忘了。His mark in math is second to none in the class.他的数学分数在班上是名列前茅的。She is a second Lei Feng 。她是雷锋式的人物。I always believe my sixth sense 。我总相信我的直觉。He talks about you nine times out of ten whenwe have a chitchat.每次我们闲聊他几乎都谈及你。牧师The parson offici

Nine times out of ten, its Dannys.不，很可能是丹尼的。释： nine times out of ten 意思是多数情况下、十有八九、很可能的意思。3. kill two birds with one stone例： A: What are you doing? 你在做什么呢？B: Im making English cards. 我正在制作英语卡片。A:
6、Oh, you are killing two birds with one stone（ 石头 ）. You canlearn both English words and drawing. 你真是一举两得，既能学习英语单词，又能学习绘画。释： kill two birds with one stone 意思是一石二鸟和我们汉语中的一举两得简直是异曲同工。4. One man is no man.杰克，例： A: Jack , can you help me ? The box is too heavy.能帮我忙吗？这个箱子太重了。B: Certainly. One man is no ma
7、n. 当然可以，一个人的力量毕竟有限。释：句中的 One man is no man. 意思是个人的力量是渺小的，此处可以意译为一个人的力量毕竟有限。除了上面的例句外，还有很多类似的英语习语，简列如下：think twice 仔细考虑thanks a million 非常感谢once in a blue moon 千载难逢地one of these days 最近in two minds about 对、 心一息一些表示颜色的英语词汇其实， 含有颜色的英文表达也有很多， 它们和其他一些词语连用就形 成了很有趣的意思。the blues 忧郁out of the blue 突然地have gre

9、 as a sheet 脸色变得很苍白a white lie 善意的谎言英语中各种数字的读法1979 nineteen seventy-nine or nineteen(1) 年号的读法：hundred(and) seventy-nine;(2)电话号码、货币的读法：1023 one o two three;1227-one double two(or two two)seven;.25-fourdollars(and)twenty-five(cents); 小数点的读法：13.91 - thirteendecimal(point)nineone;在汉英笔译和英语写作中，经常会遇到数字；哪些场
10、合用单词表示，哪些场合用阿拉伯数字表示，往往使人难以确定，现行语法书中也极少涉及此类问题。实际上， 以英语为母语的国家， 在书写数字时已形成几条约定俗成的规则，现总结如下供读者参考。一 . 英美等国的出版社在排版时遵循一条原则，即 1 至 10用单词表示， 10 以上的数目用阿拉伯数字(也有的以 100 为界限)，这条原则值得我们行文时借鉴。Eg. That table measures ten feet by five.那个工作台长10 英尺，宽 5 英尺。Eg. The traditional pattern of classroom experience at the college l
11、evel brings the professor and a group of 20 to 30students together for a 45-to-50-minute class session two or three times a week.由一个教授和十名学生每周会晤两三次，每次授课时间 45 到 50 分钟，是大学程度课堂教学的传统方式。二 . 人数用阿技伯数字表示显得更简洁明了， 但不定数量、 近似值用单词表示较恰当。Eg. There are 203817 voters on the electoral rolls.选举名单上有203817个投票人。Eg. Nearly
12、 thirty thousand voters took part in this election.近 3 万个投票人参加了这次选举。三 . 遇到日期、 百分比、 带单位的特殊数字， 通常用阿拉伯数字。Eg. Maximum swivel of table is l20.工作台的最大回转角度是120 度。Eg. 3rd March l991 或 3 March l991 ；a discount of 5 percent5%的折扣）；Eg. purchased 7 yards of carpet （买 7 码地毯）；Eg. ordered 2 pounds of minced steak （订
13、购 2 磅剁碎的肉）。如果涉及的数目和单位是不定数，可用单词表示。Eg. about five miles per hour （每小时大约 5 英里）Eg. at least ten yards away （至少有 10码远）Eg. hesitated for a moment or two （犹豫了片刻）Eg. I have warned you a hundred times （我已经警告你多少 遍了）。四 . 在科技文章中， 数字频繁出现， 用阿拉伯数字比用单词陈述更有利。Eg. The new engine has a capacity of 4.3 litres and a powe
14、r out-put of 153 kilowatts at 4400 revolutions per minute.这台新发动机的容积为 4.3 升，转速为每分钟 4400转时输出功率是 153 千瓦。Eg. We know that the weight of a cubic foot of air at 0oCand 76cm， pressure is 0.08l pound, or 12 cubic feet of air weigh a pound.我们知道， 1 立方英尺的空气在0 摄氏度和 760毫米汞柱压力下，重量是 0.81 磅，也就是说12立方英尺空气的重量是1 磅。五 .
15、句首不用阿拉伯数字，句末要尽量避免用阿拉伯数字。Eg. 4th July is an important date in American history.应该写成 The fourth of July.Eg. 19 couples took part in the ballroom dancing competition.19对选手参加了交际舞比赛。应改写成： Nineteen couples took.Eg. 60 profit was a reported.据报道有60的利润。应改写成： Sixty per cent profit Eg. 1345 kilograms force was applied at the center point of the bar.试验时在杆的中点加1345公斤力。可改成 When tested, a force of l345 kg was applied.六 . 遇到分数，可用带连字符号的单词表示。Eg.
