2、,终于饿死了。曾子听到这件事后说:“恐怕不该这样吧!黔敖无礼呼唤时,当然可以拒绝,但他道歉之后,则可以去吃。”Food Handed Out in Contempt译文一There used to a great famine in the state of Qi. Qianao set up a food stand in the road for almsgiving. When a hungry guy staggered by with sleeves over his face and shoes loosely weared. Qianao held food in his lef

3、t hand and drinks right hand and then called out:Come here and take this! The guy looked up at him and said:Id never take any food people like you call me to. And thats the reason why I got to be like this. Qianao then applogized, but the guy refused and finally died of hunger. Tseng-tzu heard this

Its OK to refuse when hes not respecting you, but also OK to accept when he apologized.译文二During a great dearth in Qi, Qian Ao had food prepared on the roads, to wait the approach of hungry people and give to them. (One day), there came a famished man, looking as if he coul

5、d hardly see, his face covered with his sleeve, and dragging his feet together. Qian Ao, carrying with his left hand some rice, and holding some drink with the other, said to him, Poor man! come and eat. The man, opening his eyes with a stare, and looking at him, said, It was because I would not eat

6、 Poor man come heres food, that I am come to this state. Qian Ao immediately apologised for his words, but the man after all would not take the food and died. When Zeng-zi heard the circumstances, he said, Was it not a small matter? When the other expressed his pity as he did, the man might have gon
