Step 1 Warming up and review
Show the pictures, and say about the things using comparative and superlative forms.
Step 2 Words Presentation
Learn the new words.
Step 3 Work on 1a
1. How do you choose which movie theater to go to? Write the things in the box under “Important” or “Unimportant”.
2. Ss discuss with their partners and write the words in the box in the chart.
3. Show the pictures and learn the language.
Step 4 Work on 1b
1. Point to the list of Movie theaters in the instructions and the blank lines under the Movie theater heading.
2. Play the recording the first time for the students to listen, then play it again for the students to write the names of each movie theater on the blank line.
3. Check the answers.
Step 5 Pair work
1. Ask students to look at the pictures in activity 1a. Then ask them to read the sample conversations in activity 1c.
2. Students work in pairs and make their own conversations about the movie theater in the picture.
3. Ask some pairs to present one or more of their conversations to the class.
Step 6 Presentation
Present some pictures and get Ss to learn the new words and phrases, then try to answer the questions.
What are they? What kind of clothes store do you like to go to?
What do you think is a good clothes store?
Step 7 Practice
T: There are three clothes stores, which one is the best?
Present pictures of different stores, ask Ss to make comparisons about the quality, service and price.
Step 8 Discussion and listening
1. T: What do you think is a good radio station? There are 3 radio stations, 970AM, 97.9FM, 107.9FM, which one is the best?
2. Get Ss to listen to the tapes and do 2a, 2b.
Step 9 Pair work
Get Ss to work in pairs and make conversations like this.
A: Hello. I’m a reporter. Can I ask you some questions?
B: Sure.
A: What’s the best clothes store in town?
B: I think Miller’s is the best.
A: Why do you think so?
B: Well, Miller’s has …
Step 10 Summarize --- superlative forms
