As one of the best-loved children’s books of all time, The Wind in the Willows has delighted readers of all ages for more than eighty years.
The Wind in the Willows, written by Kenneth Grahame, first published (出版) in 1908, is a novel for children and also a classic story of adventure and friendship. The main characters (人物) of the story are some lovely animals, such Mole, Rat, Toad and Badger. These four animals are good friends and they like to share their happiness and problems with each other, which is great. Friendly Rat, mild-mannered Mole, wise Badger, and kind but conceited Toad all live on the banks of the Thames. Rat is patient with his new friend, Mole. Mole leaves his underground home and show great interest in a river. Then he is invited by Rat to travel on the river and live with him. When Badger is needed by his friends, he will be the one ready to help. Toad enjoys the excitement of motor cars. He does things without thinking twice. While his friends try to keep him out of trouble, his love for cars finally results in his being caught and kept prisoner on the remotest dungeon of the best-guarded castle. Somehow, he has to escape and get home but what will he find when he gets there?
The Wind in the Willows is a book for those “Who keep the spirit of youth alive in them; of life, sunshine, running water, woodlands, dusty roads, winter firesides.” The importance of friendship (友谊) is one of the main themes (主题) of the story.

“A friend walks in when the rest of the worl walks out.” Sometimes in life, you find a special friend: someone who changes your life just by being part of it; someone who makes you laugh until you can’t stop; somepne who convince (使相信) you that there really is an open door just waiting for you to open it. This is Forever Friendship (永远的友谊).
When you’re sad, and the world seems dark and empty, your forever lifts you up in spirit (精神) and makes that dark and empty world suddenly seem bright and full. If you have a forever friend, it will be friend follows. If you lose your way, your forever friend guides you, encourages you, holds your hands and tells you that everything is going to be OK.
