She had better water the flowers as soon as possible, hadn't she? 她最好尽快给花浇水,不是吗? 3. had better后接进行式和完成式动词 有时后接动词的进行式,表示最好马上做某事;也可接完成式动词,表示最好做完某事或本该做某事而未做某事。如: We'd better be starting back now. 我们顶好现在就动身回去。 I think I'd better be going.我想我最好还是马上走。 You'd better be getting your clothes ready. 你最好马上把衣服准备好。 You had better have done that. 你最好把那事做完。 You had better have stayed here. 你本来应该呆在这儿的。 4. 有关had better用法几个注意点: (1) had better 用于提出建议或请求时,并不是一个很客气委婉的表达,它暗示对方有义务去做某事,因此通常用于长辈对晚辈或上级对下级等,而不宜反过来用,有时含有命令或威胁的意思。那么,更礼貌,更客气的说法是:might better, you might, it might be better to,I suggest等等 You had better listen to what I'm saying before you get yourself into more trouble. 你最好先听听我说的话,免得惹麻烦。 Some of what we're talking about might better be discussed in private. 我们要谈论的一些事情最好是在私下里讨论。 You might try calling the help desk. 你可以试着给服务台打个电话。 You might try the gas station down the street 你可以到街那头的加油站试试。 I think he misses her terribly. (2) had best与had better 用法和含义均差不多,但不如had better普通。如: You had best set out early. 你们最好早点出发。 You had best forget this incident. 你最好是吧这件事忘掉。 You had best get home before midnight.你最好在午夜之前回到家里。 We had best be going.我们最好现在就走。 You'd best take a look. 你最好还是看一看。 (3)would better与had better 用法和含义均差不多,但不如had better普通。如: I think you would better pay him a visit tomorrow. 我想你明天最好还是去看看他。 (4) 有时可省略其中的had。如: He looks like he's got an axe to grind. Better have a talk with him. 他看来是牢骚满腹,你最好找他谈谈。 You better stop arguing.你们最好不要争论了。 Better not wait for him. 最好不要等他了。 Better say yes, if they ask you. 如果他们问你,你最好说“是”。 Better not tangle with the censors. They're very vindictive 最好别和检查员发生冲突,他们可爱记仇了。 Better be careful of your bookish approach, comrade. 同志,注意你的书生气! (5) 有时为了强调,可将better置于had之前。如: "I promise I'll pay you back." "You better had." “我保证还给你。”“你最好还给我。” 从辨析borrow和lend用法开谈直接宾语为代词时句中位置的问题 一、borrow /lend/keep辨析 (1)borrow 借入 ,与from连用,尤指主语“借进来” borrow sth from sb. 从某人那里借某物 You can borrow the book from the library.你可以从图书馆借这本书。 We often borrow books from our school library.我们经常从学校图书馆借书。 I borrowed this dictionary from my teacher. 我从老师那儿借来了这本字典。 注意:borrow 是一个瞬间完成的动作,因此不能与时间段连用。也没有borrow sb sth 结构用法。 (2)lend 借出 ,与to搭配指借出去 lend sb sth=lend sth to sb 把某物借给某人 Can you lend me your car this evening? 你今晚能把汽车借给我用一下吗? Will you lend me your jacket for a little while? 你能把上衣借给我穿一会儿吗?
