2、hismuseumhas5halls，andwearenowintheintroductionhall.thishallistoillustratethepedagogicalideasweupholdandtheeducationalphilosophywefollow.ifyoulookstraightahead，wecanseeouruniversitylogoontheceiling;thewhitepartofthislogoisintheshapeofaboat，whichissailingonthebluesea.thislogoindicatesthedevelopmentof

5、oupleasefollowmetothesecondsection。there，weshallseethe“incubationyears”ofouruniversity.wuhanuniversityofscienceandtechnology，orwust，datesbacktothehubeigongyixuetang（hubeitechnicalinstitute）in1898foundedbyzhangzhidong（1837-1909），governorgeneralofhubei，hunan，guangdongandguangxiprovincesinthelateqingdy
6、nasty.thisisgovernorzhangandhisapplicationdocumenttotheemperorforapprovaloftheschoolfounding.hubeitechnicalschoolwasoneoftheearliestofitskindinchinaofferingtechnicaleducation，anditmarksthefirstpageofouruniversity.itscampusatthattimewaslocatedintodayswuchangdistrict，whichishereonthemap，about15kilomet
7、ersawayfromhere. thetileherewasusedfortheconstructionofhubeitechnicalschool，ithasalsobeenawardedasthenationalculturalrelic.therearealltogether26itemsinthismuseumhavewonthistitle.duetohistoricalreasons，hubeitechnicalschoolmoveditscampusseveraltimesandchangeditsnamemorethanonce.duringthisperiod，manywe
8、ll-knownscientistsandscholarstaughtintheschool，includinglisiguang，ageologist;amongitsfamousstudentswerezhaoshimei，themakeroftherevolutionaryflaginthewuchanguprisingofthe1911revolution;thereareotherprofessorsbeingtheteachersofouruniversity.baoding，anarchitect;helvting，amusician;andpanliangru，ascienti
9、st.inthesummerof1938，whentheinvadingjapanesearmyapproachedtowuhan，forthesafetyofitsteachersandstudents，hubeitechnicalschoolmergedwithotherschoolsandbecametheadvancedindustrybranchschoolofhubeiunitedschool，whichmovedfirsttowesternhubei，latertosichuan，andfinallysettledinenshiprefectureofhubeiprovince.
10、andthisistheanthemofhubeiunitedschool，thelyricsofwhichreflectsthestudentsandteachersconcernsaboutthewarandtheirhopeforthefuture. astheanti-japanesewarcametotheend，theschoolmovedbacktowuhanin1946.startingfromscratch，itbeganthereconstructionwork，underthenewnameoftheprovincialhanyangvocationalschoolofa
11、dvancedindustry.thesepicturesshowthestudentsconductingexperimentsandextracurricularactivities.theitemsinthisshowcasearethetextbooks，examinationpapers，andgraduationpapersofstudentsatthattime. thethirdpartoftheexhibitionsisdevotedtotheyearsafterthefoundingofthepeoplesrepublicofchina.aftertheliberation
12、ofwuhanin1949，theschoolchangeditsnametowuchangadvancedindustrialschool.itwasoneofthetopfouradvancedschoolsinthecountryatthattime.fromthesepictures，youmightgetageneralideaofwhattheschoolwaslike.pleasehavealookatthesephoto，theywereshotduringthesessionsofthenationalpeoplescongress. theyear1958sawimmens
13、eeffortsofthechinesegovernmentinpushingforwardthedevelopmentofthemetallurgicalindustry.toanswertheneedofmoreengineersandtechniciansinthefieldofironandsteel，thethenministryofmetallurgicalindustrydecidedtosetupwuhanironandsteelinstituteonthebasisofwuchangadvancedindustrialschoolandbyrelyingontheresour
14、cesofwuhanironandsteelcompany.thisisalistofthenamesofuniversityleadersthroughoutthoseyears. thepicturehereshowschairman，accompaniedbyliyiqing，thefirstpresidentofouruniversityandthegeneralmanagerofwuhanironandsteelcompanyonaninspectiontourofwuhanironandsteelcompanyin1958.theothertwopicturesshowprof.t
15、aohanying，ateacherofouruniversity，didinterpretationfor，chairmanofthecentralcommitteeofthecpc，andzhude，chairmanofthestandingcommitteeofthenationalpeoplescongress，intheirmeetingswiththesovietexperts.thenewly-establishedwuhanironandsteelinstituteinheritedtheglorioustraditionofhubeitechnicalschoolandwuc
16、hangadvancedindustrialschool，andsurpassedthetwoinbothteachingandresearch.itstressedtheimportanceofcooperatingwithenterprises，andthesepicturesshowteachershelpingenterprisessolvetechnicalproblems.in1986，anumberofgraduatesofwuhanironandsteelinstituterodebikestotakeofficeinxinjiangironandsteelcompany.thewholejourneytookalmost40daysandcovered4000miles.nowwehaveenteredthetimecorridorofthismuseum，whereweshallwitnessthetransitionofou
