The distance from DagukouMaodi （anchorage） to the city is 54 miles.Tianjin New Port: The new port is situated in position Lat. 38_ 59’ N., Long.117_ 45’ E. in Bohai Bay at the mouth of the Haihe River. The main channelhas a depth of 12.0 m. at HW and is 150 m. wide.PILOTAGE: Compulsory. Pilotage undertaken day and night.ANCHORAGES: Da Gu Kou anchorage has a depth of 10 – 13 m. and canaccept vessels up to 50,000 g.r.t. The anchorage is unprotected and providesno shelter from wind, sea or swell. With a NW’ly or westerly wind the sea isslight but when the wind is strong the tide is greatly reduced. Ships shouldtake great care in selecting a suitable anchorage position.RESTRICTIONS: Vessels may enter and sail throughout 24 hours.MAX. Between two breakwaters, constructed on the southand north sides of the work area is the entrance to this harbour with a widthof 1,300 m. 5,000 ton vessels can pass through the 13 mile long, two-waychannel of the port at high water.
