You know, topic selection is a headache thing, but this topic——my favorite sport, even many girls may don’t like sports, I must cherish the opportunity of English class to talk about. The reason is that this sport has a very small audience,so I have the duty to introduce it for you guys and let more and more people to know it and even try to love it.Ok, before the introduction, I will give you three clues of my favorite sport. Teacher said you like each sport, so I hope you can try to guess the sport with my classmates. Firstly, it is bigger than ping-pong and smaller than tennis. Secondly, it is a no sweat sport. Thirdly, it is not an Olympic sport. Have you figured it out? Yeah, the answer is billiards. Here is the frame of my presentation, I will introduce the origin of billiards, equipment, different versions of billiards and some simple skills. If time permits, I will show you a great video. Let’s begin with the history of billiards. Billiards sports have already had a history of nearly 600 years. It originated in Britain. At first, billiards was a very easy and simple game, so more difficult kinds of billiards such as 8-ball, 9-ball, snooker soon appeared. This wonderful game was introduced into China about one hundred years ago. Then, it was in poplar quickly. Nowadays, it seemed to be indispensable in each big entertainment. Then, let us to see the equipment of billiards. This one is nine-ball, this one is snooker. They all have six pockets. This is eight-ball and this is snooker. Then, the cue is indispensable, if the cue is too short, we also need extension. If the arm is inconvenient, we can use rest or tripod. This one, rack, is used by referee to set balls. Ok, the chalk is so cute, it is used for increasing the tip's friction. Next, let us to see the subdivisions of billiards. There are two major subdivisions of games within cue sports: one is carom billiards, referring to games played on tables without pockets. The other is pocket billiards, generally played on a table with six pockets. This kind of billiards is the most widespread one, including 8-ball which is the world's most widely played cue sport, nine-ball and snooker. 8-ball: I think it isn’t necessary for me to introduce this kind of billiard because nearly every people have ever played it. So, let’s go to the next. 9-ball: Ladies and girls are very suitable for this kind of game, because it is easy to learn about. As we know, there is a very famous billiard star called “panxiaoting” in our country. The game she play is this. Snooker: It is the most difficult kind of billiards. This game represents the highest level in billiard sports. There are many snooker matches every year in the world. It has one white cue ball, 15 red balls worth one point each, and six balls of different colours: yellow (2 points), green (3), brown (4), blue (5), pink (6) and black (7). Many people do not know the rule of this sport, so I will simply explain the rule. The player use the cue ball to pot the red and the colour until all the red balls fall the bag, then hitting order is yellow, green, brown, blue, pink, black one by one, and finally the higher score is the winner. There are many famous superstars playing snooker, such as Ronnie O'Sull。
