名人名校演讲精粹SPEECHES IN FAMOUS UNIVERSTIES §追逐梦想§Go for Your Dreams张 峪齐 You Make Your Own Future  Barack Obama  Speech at Wakefield High school  Arlington, Virginia  September 8,2009First Part: 政界精英 The story of America isn't about people who quit when things got tough. It's about people who kept going, who tried harder, who loved their country too much to do anything less than their best.  No one's written your destiny for you, because here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future. The truth is, being successful is hard. You won't love every subject that you study. You won't click with every teacher that you have. Not every homework assignment will seem completely relevant to your life right at this minute. And you won't necessarily succeed at everything the first time you try.  That's okay. Some of the most successful people in the world are the ones who've had the most failures. J.K. Rowling's -- who wrote Harry Potter -- her first Harry Potter book was rejected 12 times before it was finally published. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team. He lost hundreds of games and missed thousands of shots during his career. But he once said, “I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that's why I succeed.“ 事实上,成功是件难事。

罗琳的第一本《哈利·波 特》被出版商拒绝了十二次才最终出版;迈克尔·乔丹上 高中时被学校的篮球队刷了下来,在他的职业生涯里, 他输了几百场比赛、投失过几千次射篮,知道他是怎么 说的吗?“我一生不停地失败、失败再失败,这就是我 现在成功的原因 Obama tells us, we may not have much money, or our family may be poor, or we don’t have a good look. But they can’t be the reason for neglecting the homework or having a bad attitude at school.  It sounds like a saying we often hear in China— “There is no excuse for your bad grades .”Actually , it is true. We usually try to find different kinds of excuse to explain why we have so many things to make parents and teacher unhappy. But in fact, we do have something need to improve.  Most of us know that Obama is the president. However ,only few people know ,Obama had a unhappy childhood. He lived in Indonesia when he was young. His mother didn’t have enough money to send him a American school . So his mother began toFeelingsteach him by her self. And because she had to work, she could only have class at 4:30 in the morning.  Obama had the worth childhood than we have. However, in the end, he became the president. But we can also predict that easily, some people with wealthy families will achieve nothing. Why?Because Obama wrote his own destiny, the poor life can’t stop him achieving success, but some people just let the life make their future.  We are studying for our selves. While we are looking for excuse for our mistakes, we are also looking for the excuse for our failures in the future. So why can’t we make our own futureSecond Part: 商界精英 To Hold Accountable in Life  Jamie Dimon  Speech at Syracuse University  May 16,2010  杰米·戴蒙  金融天才,华尔街的传奇人物,摩根 大通CEO,世界上最让人敬畏的银行家。

摩根大通在戴蒙带领下不仅在每个季度 均保持盈利近20亿美元,而且其投资银 行等业务还在五大投行纷纷倒台的情况 下逆市走高,更让摩根大通在风暴中屹 立不倒他还是花旗银行的创始人之一 And so it takes courage, knowledge, a strong sense of self, a capacity to overcome failure, and a healthy amount of humility and humanity to be truly accountable. It takes courage to be accountable. Throughout my life, throughout this crisis in the past three years, I’ve seen many people embarrass themselves by failing to stand up, being mealy-mouthed and acting like lemmings by simply going along with the pack. I also saw plenty of people under enormous pressure who always did the right thing.  Along the way, you’re going to face a lot of pressure. Pressure to go along, to get along, to toe the line, to look the other way when you see things that aren’t right, and pressure to do things simply because everybody else is doing them. Never give in to that pressure. Have the fortitude to do the right thing, not the easy thing. Don’t be somebody’s lapdog or sycophant.  Have the courage to speak the truth, even when it is unpopular, and have the courage to put yourself on the line, to strive for something meaningful, and even to risk what would be an embarrassing failure. 在我的一生中,特别是在过去几年经济危机中,我看到 许多人像绵羊一样随波逐流,在关键时刻不敢坚持原则 和立场,说话拐弯抹角,不敢得罪人,却落得个难堪丢 人的下场。

Parents and teachers usually say:“You have to account for this.”But it’s hard to account for our own mistakes . Jamie Dimon is the CEO of JPM, he take responsibility for the JPM when the company was nearly closed. He never shirk his responsibility. So that JPM became one of the biggest banks in the world and he is one of the richest people.  Ma Yun has said“Today is tough, tomorrow is tough。
