He is as old as I am.He used to be almost as well-off(富裕) as his brother was. not as /so …as…结构此结构是 as…as… People are not so genuine as they used to be.The Chinese people are not so poor as many Americans imagine.not so much A as B 结构从原理上说,此结构与“not as/so …as…” He is not so much a doctor as a teacher. It was not so much that I disliked her as that I just was not interested in the whole businessThe great use of a school education is not so much to teach you things as to teach you the art of learning.另外,此结构可以写成 not…so much as…例: He is not so much a doctor as a teacher.=He is not a doctor so much as a teacher. The problem set for society is not the virtues of this group so much as its adequacy for its function.not so much as.. I do not so much as his name.He has not so much as been to the capital of his country. We now pass through these electronic machines without so much as a glance.as much…as… The gorilla remains as much as a mystery as they used to be. He is as much a question as anything else.此结构有时可改写成…as much as…as well as 结构此结构表示“不仅…”

He is a teacher as well as a soldier. As well as food and drink, they collected women.=they collected women as well as food and drink. As well as the danger from enemy action, people had to cope with a severe shortage of food, clothing and almost everything.more A than B 结构此结构表示对 A 的肯定胜过对 B 的肯定,可理解为 “与其 B 不如 A”,反之, less A than B 则表示“与其 A 不如 B”,使用活跃度时,主语把握两个比较对象的强弱程度,程度强的是肯定对象,反之往往是否定对象例:He is more an artist than a scientist. It is more of a business than a joke.He is less off patriot than a hero. She is less of a burden than you.比较级+than+to do 结构表示“不至于”例:I am wiser than to believe what he said.I should have known better than to ask.You ought to know better than to rescue your enemy at the risk of your own life.as…, so…

As fire tries gold, so does adversity try virtue. As administrative cost rise, so the earning of the business after meeting the expense of administration will fallAs you make your bed, so you must lie on it.more than 结构1. more than+数词,表示“多于…” I have been living in Beijing for more than ten years.More than twenty passengers were injured in the traffic accident.2. more than+形容词/副词/动词,表示程度剧烈,可以理解为“格外” 、 “极其” 、 “远远” 、 “不只是”例:You must be more than careful in performing this operation.Work hardly, and you will be more than amply rewarded in the near future. His rise in status more than compensates for the loss of money.3. more than+名词,有时表示“不只是…” He is more than a friend to me.These days, it is differences in national regulations, far more than tariffs, that put sand in the wheels of trade between rich countries.I like watching TV more than going to the cinema.4. more than…can... I love you more than I can say.Their dancing proved to be more than the dish could bear.5. not…any more than…=no more..than… Humans should not try to avoid stress any more than they would shun food, love or exercise. There is no reason they should limit how much vitamin you take, any more than they can limit how much water you drink.几种易混淆的比较结构no more than=onlynot more than=less than 或 at mostno less than=as much as 或 just as not less than=more than 或 at leastmot more…than=less…thanno less...than=both…andnot less…than=more…thanThere is, of course, no single pattern of American character any more than there is a single English or Turkish or Chinese. The rise of English over the past few centuries clearly owes at least as much to history and economics as to the language’s ability to economically express the concept of win-win.Supposed a man does not have to work so hard that to consume his energy, he is likely to have more vigor in his free time than an idle man could possibly find. The language of the classroom is more similar to the language used by middle-class families than that used by working-class families.。
