Arnolddidntknowhewasapig-hethoughthewasjustanothermemberofourfamily-modelinghisbehaviorthroughobservingme,mywife,mytwodaughtersandourbeagles.Hewasconvincedhewaslovedbyall;andhewas,evenwhenhewasornerytryingtojustgetourattention.Helearnedhisname,howtositandhowtousethelitterboxallin
4、thefirstweekwehadhim(at7weeksold!). HelovedtosleeponyourlapasyousatonthecouchwatchingTV.Hedidntcareifhegrewtoweigh45lbs,hestillexpectedyoutohoisthimontoyourlapatprecisely8:00pmeveryeveningwherehewouldfallfastasleepwithinsecondsaftersnugglinghiswetnosebetweenyourneckandshoulder.Ifyoudidntrespondtohis
5、initialhonkslettingyouknowitwashisnaptime,hewouldbumpyourlegswithhisnoseuntilyoupickedhimup.Withhisweightasitwas,youcouldntholdhimalleveningashepreferred,soyouhadtoslidehimoffontothecouchnexttoyouwherehewouldsleepforhourswithallfourlegsandhisnosestickingstraightupintheair.Hewouldsnoreaslongashecould
6、feelyounexttohimbutwouldimmediatelywakeupifyoutriedtoleavethecouch.Wehadhoursoffunbalancingobjectslikeasaltshakeronhisflatnosewhilehesleptsoundly. Arnoldhelpedmeinallmychoresaroundourfiveacresinthecountry.Justbeingthereatmyfeet,interestedinwhatIwasdoingmadeeventhemostmundaasksenjoyable.Whenhewasoutr
7、oamingandforagingandyouwouldcallouthisname,hewoulderunningattopspeed,honkingthewholewayuntilhegotclosetoyouwherehewoulddodgeyou,zigzaggingaroundwithafewvictoryrolesturningincirclesbeforesettlingdownandcalmlywalkinguptoyouwithhistailwaggingasiftosay(winking)hah,got-cha. Heevenhelpedmebuildakitaircraf
8、tandacustomizedtrailertohaulitaroundin.Iwasplanningontakinghimflyingwithmesomeday.Helovedtoplaywithmysocketsandrolledthemaroundontheshopfloor.JustasIwouldstruggleandgetfrustratedwithsomedifficulttask,Arnoldwouldshowupunderneaththetrailer,withhiswetnoseinmyearandhonking-seemingtosay,takeabreakandlaug
9、hwithmeforawhile,thatshouldmakeitallbetter.Anditdid,everytime.Godsmarvelouscreationsministertousinthemostspecialwaysifwecanjuststopforafewmomentsandobservethem.GodusedArnoldtoteachusthisveryimportantlessoninlifewhichwewillneveret. MywifeandtwodaughtersbegantosaythatArnoldandIweresoclosethathehadbeet
10、hesonthatIneverhadinourfamily.ItseemedthatwecouldnolongerhaveanykindofconversationinourfamilyorwithourfriendswithoutArnoldbeingamaintopic.TheneighborhoodkidswouldmakeappointmentstoevisitArnoldandcouldntwaittoeoverandplaywithhim. Arnoldwentmosteverywherewithus-PetsMart,Wal-Mart,birthdayparties,Christ
11、masvacationtoGrandmas.Helovedridinginthecar/shoppingbasketandwasabighiteverywherehewent.Arnoldhadbeesuchanimportantpartofourlifethatwhenwefoundoutthatourfamilywouldhavetomovetoanotherstate,weinsistedthatthecontractonournewhousebecontingentonthehomeownersassociationapprovalofArnoldinwritingbeforewewo
12、uldagreetopurchasinginourprestigiousneighborhood. Onthedayweleftouroldhometown,wehadagoingawaylunchwithourfriendsfromchurch.EveryoherejusthadtogoouttothetruckwhereArnoldandallourotherpetwereandsaygoodbye.Arnoldtrustedmetotakecareofhimandgethimtohisnewhome.Tragically,alongtheway,thewindblastfromasemi
13、knockedourtrailersoutofcontrolandpushedourtruckoffa40bridge.WelostabigpartofourfamilythatdaywhenourpetsArnold,SweetiandLeannawerekilled.IfeelterriblefornotbeingabletoprotectArnoldthewayhetrustedmeto.However,IwillbeforevergratefulforthefondmemoriesofhimwhichIwillcherishforever. ThankyouforreadingthisandallowingmetosharesomeofArnoldslifewithyou.Ifyoudecidethatapotbellyistherightchoiceforyouboth,IpraythatyouwillberewardedinthesamewaymyfamilywaswithArnold.
