4、ents,isrelevanttotheirlifeexperiencesandcognitivelevellPromotestask-basedteachingmethodslInvolvesstudentsinexperiential,practical,participatoryandcooperativelearninglDevelopsstudentspositiveattitudes,thinkingskills,practicalabilities,culturalawarenessandautonomythroughthelanguagelearningprocess1.The

5、NatureoftheNewCurriculumThenewEnglishcurriculumstrivestoaccomplishfarmorethanjusthelpstudentslearnEnglish.AtonelevellearningEnglishshouldinvolvehelpingstudentstlDevelopacertainlevelofcomprehensivelanguagecompetenceandtheabilitytouselanguageforrealcommunicationlMastercertainbasiclanguageknowledgelMas

10、creativity2.2Thecurriculumobjectivesareholisticandflexible.ThefundamentalaimofthenewEnglishcurriculumistodevelopstudentscomprehensivelanguagecompetence.Thisaimisbrokendownintofivegeneralobjectives.Theseobjectivesarethendividedintonineabilitylevelswithdescriptorsprovidedforeachlevel.Thefivegeneralobj
