Practical Reading: Shipment and PaymentThe Life of a Tea CupI was made in a factory in Tangshang, carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and put in a box with five other cups that looked exactly the same as me. The box was taped up secu
2、rely and stamped with the factory name, date and our name, rose cup. Many other boxes were filled with the same type of cups and then we were all packed into one large crate which was also stamped with various letters and numbers that identified us. Having been packed, crated and delivered to Tianji
3、n, we were transferred to the hold of a cargo ship and shipped to Europe. The order had been received four weeks before and the customer was told that we would be ready for shipment in 4 weeks. An interim payment of 45% was due before the date of shipment with the balance due 30 days after receipt o
4、f the goods. This credit period of 30 days is very common in business. The export license covered our consignment because it was a regular monthly order to the factory where we were made, and there were no import restrictions. A lot of documents and forms had been completed about us: shipping detail
5、s, an invoice, customs clearance documents and insurance papers.When we arrived at Southampton, a port in southern England, our crate was off-loaded and transferred to a warehouse. There, the crate was opened and boxes were put on different lorries and dispatched to various parts of the country. I w
6、as sent to London and after some hours we arrived at the back door of a big department store in Oxford Street. I soon found myself standing proudly on a gleaming glass shelf with the others. The very next day, a lady came and picked me up. She looked me all over and said I was very pretty. But then

Every day now, I am filled with tea and every time, the lady says how pretty I am. She treats me very carefully so even
