1、Grammar 语法,Unit 10 Inversion倒装,一、主谓倒装,倒装包括助动词和主语的倒装。最常用的倒装形式是：在疑问句中 Earth is small compared to other planets Is Earth small compared to other planets? 如果句子中没有助动词，在变成一般疑问句时，要加助动词而且改变次序。 She looked tired Did she look tired?,二、条件从句中的倒装形式,在正式英语条件句中，主语和助动词的倒装。 第二条件句 Were I you, I would visit grandfather.
2、 Had I some money, I would buy myself a hotdog. 第三条件句 Had I known this fact before, I wouldnt have come here. Had Jake been informed about the meeting, he would have participated.,三、倒装表示强调,Little did she know how much work has left. On no account must you sleep at class. Never should you forget who
3、your boss is. Only then can it belong to me. Here comes the moon. All these structure are rather literary, which means there are more likely to appear in books.,四、“so“, “neither“ and “nor“等否定词的倒装形式,“I am not into classical music.“ “Neither am I.“ (Or: “Nor am I.“) “I am fond of watching films.“ “So
4、am I.“,五、否定副词后的倒装形式,David rarely speaks to himself. Rarely does David speak to himself. Seldom does Jack get invited to parties. (seldom = rarely) Never have they seen such a fascinating view. At no time did the prisoner look as if he might confess. Not only is she a great singer but she is also an
5、amazing chemist.,Not until she took up mountain climbing did she overcome her fear of heights. Under no circumstances will prisoners be allowed to give interviews to the media. Little did she realize that her grandfather was really a fox. 注意：如果副词不在句首，不用倒装。比较下面的句子。 She is not only a great singer but
6、she is also an amazing chemist.,六、Hardlywhen; Scareclywhen; No soonerthan的倒装形式,下例句中描述一个动作发生后，另一个动作立刻发生。 Hardly had he walked outside when it started to snow. Scarcely had he walked outside when it started to snow. No sooner had he walked outside than it started to snow. Note that the past perfect te
7、nse is used to describe the event that happened first. 注意：过去完成时用来描述一个动作比另一个动作先发生。,七、only要求的倒装,下例句子中“only”要求的倒装结构。注意：要求倒装的动词不总是第一个动词。 Only after he arrived at the railway station did he look for his train ticket. Only if you look through this dark glass will you be able to see the spots on the sun. W

Only by threatening extreme physical violence was the teacher able to control the class. 注意：下面句子的“only”不要求倒装。 Only Fiona knew the answer to the question.,八、as倒装句,“as”的倒装形式：表示两个相同的事物 Beth was too shy to dance, as was Peter. She
9、decided to leave early, as did Miller. In these sentences “as“ indicates the similarity between two things.,九、such和so的倒装句,So excited were they that they couldnt sit still. Such was their excitement that they began to jump up and down. 注意：so后面接形容词，such后接名词,十、形容词后的倒装形式,A few very literary sentences be
10、gin with an adjective and include an inversion. Blessed are the children who are still unaware of what the future holds. Gone* are the days when I could have been happy. * Here the past participle is used like an adjective. 下面的句子不要求倒装 Strange as it may seem, we were sorry to leave in the end.,十一、May
11、的倒装形式,When we are making wishes, we can use inversion: May you both live happily ever after!,十二、感叹句的倒装形式,Arent you a silly girl! Isnt it a lovely day!,十三、副词倒装形式,Into the room ran the lady. First comes love, then comes marriage. After A comes B, then comes C, next comes D. Down came the rain and wash
12、ed the spider out,十四、the more, the more.倒装句型,The closer an object is to another object, the greater is the gravity between the two objects.,十五、“story speech“ 故事讲述时用的倒装形式,“I think its time to go, ” said Susan. “Its time for you, but not for me, ” replied Gary. “Maybe we should collect our thoughts fo
