We use a polythene wrapper for each article, all ready for window display. Mr. Blake: Good. A wrapping that catches the eye will certainly help sales. Mr. Chen: You bet

7、. Mr. Blake: What about the outer packing? Mr. Chen: Well pack them 10 dozen to one carton. Mr. Blake: Cartons? Mr. Chen: Yes, corrugated cardboard boxes. Mr. Blake: Could you use wooden cases? Mr. Chen: Why wooden cases? The cartons are comparatively light, and easy to handle. Mr. Blake: Maybe you

8、are right, but in order to avoid dampness, wed like to have it packed in wooden cases.,Dialogue,Mr. Chen: Dont worry about that. The cartons lined with plastic sheets are waterproof, and as the boxes are made of cardboard, they will be handled with care. Mr. Blake: Well, I dont want to take any risk

9、s. Besides, cartons are easy to cut open, and this increases the risk of theft. Mr. Chen: Tampering with cartons is easily detected. I should say that this rather prevents theft. Mr. Blake: Maybe so, but Im afraid that in case of damage or theft, the insurance company will refuse compensation becaus

10、e of improper packing, or packing unsuitable for sea voyage. Mr. Chen: But cartons are quite seaworthy. They are extensively used in our shipments. We never receive any complaints from our clients. Well, we will use wooden cases if you insist on, but the charge for packing will be considerably highe

12、facturers. Mr. Blake: What did they say? Mr. Chen: They said they could easily pack products in wooden cases, but it would cost more. Mr. Blake: So what is your suggestion, Mr. Chen? Mr. Chen: Its up to you. But we think cartons are good enough for lightweight articles. Mr. Blake: Youre probably rig

13、ht, but they are shipped by sea. Dont you think they might be damaged by moisture or rain? Mr. Chen: Dont worry about that. Every carton is lined with a waterproof material. And to make them strong enough to stand rough handling, we use metal angles at each corner. Mr. Blake: Well, Id rather play it

14、 safe. Cartons are easier to be cut open, so the risk of theft needs to be taken into account. Mr. Chen: Tampering with cartons can easily be detected.
