Educationbackground In1995,IenteredtheNanjingUniversityofScience&Technology(NUST)-widelyconsideredoneoftheChinasbestengineeringschools.Duringthefollowingundergraduatestudy,myacademicrecordskeptdistin
3、guishedamongthewholedepartment.IwasgrantedFirstClassPrizeeverysemester,andmyoverallGPA(89.5/100)rankedNo.1among113students.In1999,Igottheprivilegetoenterthegraduateprogramwaivedoftheadmissiontest.IselectedtheShanghaiJiaoTongUniversitytocontinuemystudyforitsbestreputationonCombinatorialOptimizationan
4、dNetworkSchedulingwheremyresearchinterestlies. Attheperiodofmygraduatestudy,myoverallGPA(3.77/4.0)rankedtop5%inthedepartment.Inthesecondsemester,Ibecameteacherassistantthatisgiventotalentedandmaturedstudentsonly.Thisyear,IwontheAcerScholarshipastheoneandonlycandidateinmydepartment,whichistheultimate
5、accoladefordistinguishedstudentsendowedbymyuniversity.Presently,IampreparingmygraduationthesisandtryingforthehonorofExcellentGraduationThesis. Researchexperienceandacademicactivity Whenasophomore,IjoinedtheAssociationofAIEnthusiastandbegantonarrowdownmyinterestformyfutureresearch.In1997,Iparticipate
6、dinsimulationtooldevelopmentfortheschedulingsysteminProf.Wangslab.WiththetoolofOpenGLandMatlab,Idesignedasimulationprogramfortransportationschedulingsystem.ItisnowwidelyusedbydifferentresearchgroupsinNUST.In1998,Iassumedandfulfilledasewageanalysis&disposeprojectforNanjingsewagetreatmentplant.Thiswas
7、myfirstpracticetoconvertalaboratoryideatoacommercialproduct. In1999,IjoinedthedistinguishedProfessorYu-GengXisresearchgroupaimingatNetworkflowproblemsolvingandHeuristicalgorithmresearch.SoonIwasengagedintheFuDanGeneDatabaseDesign.Mydutywastopickuptheusefulinformationamongdifferentkindsofgenematching
8、format.Throughthecomparisonandanalysisformanyheuristicalgorithms,Iintroducedanimprovedevolutionaryalgorithm-Multi-populationGeneticAlgorithm.Bydividingawholepopulationintoseveralsub-populations,thisimprovedalgorithmcaneffectivelypreventGAfromlocalconvergenceandpromotevariousevolutionaryorientations.
9、ItprovedmoreefficientlythanSGAinexperiments,too.Inthesecondsemester,Ijoinedtheworkshop-schedulingresearchinShanghaiHeavyDutyTyreplant.Theschedulingwasdesignedfortherubber-makingprocessthatcoverednotonlydiscretebutalsocontinuouscircumstances.Tomakeabalancepointbetweenoptimizationqualityandtimecost,Ip
10、roposedaDynamicLayeredSchedulingmethodbasedonhybridPetriNets.Thepracticalapplicationshowedthattheaveragemakespanwasshortenedbyalargescale.Ialsopublicizedtwopapersincorejournalswiththisidea.Recently,IamdoingresearchintheCompositePredictoftheElectricalPowersystemassistedwiththetechnologyofDataMiningfo
11、rBaoSteel.ItrytocombinetheDecisionTreewithRecedingOptimizationtoprovideanewsolutionfortheCompositePredictiveProblem.Thisprojectisnowunderconstruction. Besides,InJuly2000,IgottheopportunitytogivealectureinEnglishinAsiaControlConference(ASCC)whichisoneofthetop-levelconferencesamongtheworldintheareaofc
12、ontrolandautomation.Inmysenioryear,ImetProf.Xiao-SongLin,avisitingprofessorofmathematicsfromUniversityofCalifornia-Riverside,Ilearnedgraphtheoryfromhimformynetworkresearch.TheseexperiencesallrapidlyexpandedmyknowledgeofEnglishandtheunderstandingofwesternculture. Ihopetostudyindepth Inretrospect,Ifin
13、dmyselfstandingonasolidbasisinboththeoryandexperience,whichhaspreparedmeforthePh.D.program.Myfutureresearchinterestsinclude:NetworkSchedulingProblem,HeuristicAlgorithmresearch(especiallyinGAandNeuralnetwork),Supplychainnetworkresearch,HybridsystemperformanceanalysiswithPetrinetsandDataMining.
