Thomas Cook 近代旅游业之父 In 1841, as secretary of the South Midland Temperance Association, Thomas Cook persuaded the Midland Countries Railway Company to run a special train between Leicester and Loughborough for a temperance meeting on July 5. He o
4、rganized an excursion for his members at a fare of one shilling return. It turned out to be an immediate successaltogether 570 seats were sold. For his efforts Cook received a 5 percent commission. Although not the first excursion train run in England, it was believed to be the first publicly advert
5、ised excursion train organized by a middleman. Package Tour A package tour or package holiday consists of transport and accommodation advertised and sold together by a vendor known as a tour operator. Other services may be provided such a re

Package holidays are a form of product bundling. Package holidays are organized by a tour operator and sold to a consumer b

14、是某地常住户口居民就可以直接向该地旅游委员会申办；国际社则需要国家旅游局审批，一般需要有国内社的资历，并有良好的经营业绩才会被批准。,Section A Passage Reading,Text B Independent Travel,Background Information: 3. 申报旅行社 申办旅行社首先需要向所在地旅游委员会行业管理处申办经营资格许可证，需提供申请书、可行性研究报告、验资报告、经营管理人员履历及所具备资格证书、旅行社章程、办公场所证明、注册资金和质量保证金及承诺书等七项，其中国内社的注册资金为30万元以上，质量保证金为10万元。经过行业管理部门审批合格后，会颁发旅
15、行社经营资格许可证，再凭此到工商管理部门办理营业执照等相应手续，一家新的旅行社就可以成立了。,Section A Passage Reading,Text B Independent Travel,Background Information: 4. 跟团游与自助游 跟团游和自助游各有优缺点，比如，在费用方面：跟团游通常会包含行程中的景点门票、团队用餐、酒店住宿、导游服务；而自助游通常是指机票和酒店或者单订酒店，不包含当地的交通、门票、导游和用餐。在住宿方面：跟团游安排的酒店可保证干净整洁，具体情况由线路品质不同而有所区别，部分线路可另付费升级酒店；自助游的游客可根据自己的需要预定酒店。在行程
