3、及其连接它们的组合元音(combining vowel: oiea, 但以o居多)构成.,词根 （Word Roots）,带有词根的医学词汇多来源于希腊语及拉丁语 大多为描述身体部位的解剖学名词 一个医学英语词汇内可含一个或多个词根 词根通常位于后缀前，而后缀常以元音“o”与词根相连， 如：scler/ + osis = sclerosis hyster/o: womb, uterus thromb/o: clot 凝结 men/o: menstruation 词根与词根之间通常也以元音“o”连接 如： osteo/ o/ chondr/ itis = osteochondritis,词根范例
4、（Examples of Word Roods）,上述词根与其他词根连接时中间常常加一个元音“O”,词根范例（Examples of Word Roods）,后缀（Suffixes）,一个英语单词可以分为三个部分： 词根（stem） 后缀（suffix） 前缀（prefix） 英语单词的结尾 后缀是一种重要的构词法。 后缀常常可以判断出一个词的词性（名词、形容词或副词） 但不改变词根的含意 医学英语后缀也是从希腊语或拉丁语衍生而来,名词后缀,Arthr/o -centesis Arthrocentesis （缀合） joint puncture puncture of a joint (关节穿
