The basic requirements of the Architectur

5、e are as follow.- Network loads are projected to double annually. The current load is 10-12 IOPS per user in this community (1 IOPS = 4 KB). The design must be able to scale accordingly.- Anticipated startup download to each user is several megabytes of programs and data and is downloaded in a brief

6、 window each morning. The network must be able to handle bursts of this nature.- Connectivity for approximately 200 GigE server ports is required by the end of the year.- Network management is critical, especially in terms of identifying and rectifying failures.- Develop Product files are very large

7、 and the human resources utilizing those files are very valuable. The concept must provide mechanisms to ensure fast and reliable delivery of these files and minimize any, intended or unintended, interference in the process.- The network should have as few hops, devices, as possible between server a

8、nd end-user. The intent is to reduce the cumulative effect of potential device failure.- The desired state is to have minimized routing within the Develop Product environment. The assumption is that directing traffic is best handled at the lowest layer possible.- The concept must be constructed in s

9、uch a fashion that component failure will displace no more than 500 users.- Connectivity must be allowed from Develop Product into the normal GM environment for business purposes and vice versa.- Develop Product users at remote sites, including international users, must be allowed into the Develop P

10、roduct environment at Warren.Sample designs are included for the following locations- VEC and new Tower user and Develop Product server connectivity- Data Center server connectivity- Highly Secured environment including VEC, Engineering and Design- Metal Fabricating, 100 Kirts Blvd., remote connecti

11、vity, and- Powertrain Building network and two options for connectivity to VEC Develop Product.AssumptionsThe Design samples are presented based upon the following assumptions.- Existing fiber runs will be utilized unless otherwise specified.- Redundant fiber runs will be made in new construction in

12、 the VEC/Tower from the Data Center to Distribution closets and from Distribution closet to Access closets. Renovation will be considered to extend this concept to existing buildings as it can be incorporated with additional construction.- Existing closets and closet environments will be utilized un

13、less otherwise noted.- Devices to be replaced will utilize existing fiber connections.- All servers will be located at the Data Center. No servers will be located in other buildings.- All network devices should operate with redundant power supplies, supervisor cards and/or routing cards. Existing eq

14、uipment will be evaluated for user constituency and loading before requiring upgrades to fit the preliminary design.- All network devices will be ISL capable and trunking will be implemented between these devices when Layer 2 connectivity is implemented.- Layer 2 connections between switches for Dev

15、elop Product will consist of 2Gbps fiber trunk/channels.- Layer 2 connections between switches for Develop Product will consist of 2 1Gbps routed connections.- All network devices will interconnect utilizing GigE connections unless otherwise noted.- All servers will connect using GigE connections.- All workstations will, initially, connect using 10/100Mbps connections.Preliminary DesignsDevelop Product Data Center EnvironmentThe Develop Product Data Center environment consists of three C
