Night written by Elie Wiesel, the Nobel Peace Prize winner in 1986, is the third book I read in English, costing me only three days, wh

2、ich was filled with sorrow and fear. The book was about the authors recollection of his miserable life as a Jew in the concentration camps during the Second World . Before he was liberated, all his family members were dead. Through the book, he showed us the real cruel circumstance toward Jewry, as

3、well as the vicious soul people had, including not only the officials, but also the prisoners themselves. There were many things they lost without realizing, such as the mercy to others, the love and respect for their fathers, but luckily the author himself didnt. I am really proud of him. During re

4、ading, I found the famous related press release There Is No News from Auschwitz to read, and I cried one more time. Come back to the book. The scene in the concentration camp was not that cruel and bloody as I imagined. I had heard much about slaughter in many countries, especially Nazi in German an

5、d Nanjing Massacre in China. Through this book, maybe because I didnt understand it fully, I didnt think it extremely horrible. I felt the compassion for them rather than frightened. Following are impressive quotes, which showed the meaning of the name Night: “Never shall I forget that night, the fi

6、rst night in camp, which has turned my life into one long night, seven times cursed and seven times sealed.“Never shall I forget those moments which murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to dust. Never shall I forget these things, even if I am condemned to live as long as God Himself. Nev

7、er.”The most impressive words in it were furnace, crematory and selection. Men would be thrown into crematories if they failed to pass the selection. Women and babies were thrown into it without reason. I just felt the grief for them. Prisoners were also abused by the Kapos and they had to watch tho

8、se who were hung to death one by one. Prisoners fought against each other to snatch food. At that time, the world was full of horror and gloom. Hope could be found nowhere. Even though living was unbearable, the hero survived. Meanwhile he had ever considered of giving up his father, but he didnt. H

9、e never let go. Food was extremely scarce, but he still gave “black coffee” and bread to his badly-ill father. Others teased him and his own mind was struggling day and night, but he didnt stop helping. He never let go. Never.And when I read the final paragraph, I felt heart-broken. He survived, loo

10、ked at the mirror in the hospital and said, “From the depths of the mirror, a corpse gazed back at me. The look in his eyes, as they stared into mine, has never left me.”Killing is a sin. I dont know why human could kill each other such savagely. I couldnt understand what caused them so. Is peace no

11、t valuable toward benefits among countries? Why? What is the most important, Power, money or harmony? That is what all of us should consider.Thus I am very lucky to live in a peaceful nowadays. However, fighting and wars are happening at many corners of the world, including drug and poor problems. The world is not yet equal or peaceful enough. We are always expecting. People may believe Providence again. But if we are living in a world without God at all, we should also manage to live and create a harmony world together. We will.TanyaApr. 1st, 2013
