The eye has 14

2、 muscles that need to be developed for one to achieve ultimate performance. We rely heavily on visual stimuli to respond and perform a variety of tasks. Because tracking is a dynamic activity that encompasses many factors, it is important to teach the skills in isolation first, increase the difficul

3、ty as skills are mastered and add loading to build new neurological pathways. Possibilities are endless in creating tasks that are challenging and fun for all students! In addition, tracking skills (vergence, peripheral vision, focus, and eye-hand coordination) come into play in the academic classro

4、om as well. Students must focus on words far to near when Smart boards, power points, document cameras or old school chalkboards and whiteboards are used to deliver information to students. A student must be able to scan across a written page, use fine motor skills with handwriting and interpret sym

5、bols that create words. Spending a few minutes on visual exercises can pay huge dividends in the classroom and the gym.Volley Defenders Suggested grade level: 3rd and up Equipment: 1 Liteflight ball & 1 hoop/groupMusic: Dig Deep TECHNO BOUNCESet-up: Mark a line and place the hoop 30 feet from that l

6、ine.Lesson focus: Volley, dynamic balance and teamwork Formation: 2 Pairs facing one another in a single file line Description: Players will work as a super hero team to complete a volley task to save the planet. Class is divided into groups of 4-6 players. The ball must stay off the floor. Starting

7、 at the hoop, Group A-player 1, volleys the ball to Group B Player 1. After the volley, that player rotates right and switches to the back of the line. Group A - Player 2 volleys to Group B Player 2 and Player 2 then volleys to Player 1 in Group A. This shuffle pattern of players continues until the

8、 team travels down to the line and back to the hoop. When they complete the challenge, place the ball in the hoop, high 5 and celebrate!Variations: - Use a balloon, if students are having trouble controlling the Liteflight ball. Use a heavier ball to increase the difficulty of the task. - If there a

9、re students with limited mobility or someone in a wheel chair, shorten the distance to travel and create a single filed line so that the entire group is travelling forward and the less mobile student or wheel chair student does not have to change position in the line. 10、vel: K through 5Equipment: Bean bag or any object that can be thrown and caught safely for each studentFormation: Scattered in shared space (3 feet from the extension of arms in helicopter position)Music: Anything with a beatLesson Focus: Tossing and catching, tracking, sports skillsDescription: Stu

11、dents get an object to throw and find a safe space in the activity area. Place the object at feet and check to see that you are a safe distance from others. Await further instructions. Beginners Pick up your bean bag and place your hands under it (pinky to pinky with palms facing the ceiling) at wai

12、st level. Gently push your hands upward to pop the bean bag in the air. Use your eyes to watch it up and down (keeping the head still). Catch it at belly button or waist level. Perform 10 catches, “Ready, set, go!” Work through the entire routine slowly. Students will improve with practice. The diff

13、iculty is controlling force and maintaining catching it at waist level for the first 5 tasks.Tracking Routine: (10 each)1. Center2. Left 3. Right4. Across5. Toss with 1 hand, catch with 2 (limit height to reach at first), while alternating throwing and catching hands. 6. Toss with 1 hand higher, cat

14、ch with 2 above head (thumb to thumb) while alternating throwing and catching hands. .7. Toss across, a little higher than reach height and claw down with the opposite while alternating throwing and catching hands. Variations/Modifications: - Once taught and practiced, this routine can be performed

15、as an instant activity, an after drink break activity or to warm-up for a throwing game.- Modifications are easily made by changing the type of object being thrown. (Start with scarves or plastic grocery bags with K-1). Objects: Scarves, plastic grocery bags, different weighted balls and critters.- Reduce the number of catches to be performed.Additional challenges: On Higher Tosses - How many claps can you do before you catch it?- How close can you catch it to the floor?- Can you toss and turn a turn, turn or full turn and still
