1、December 7, 2012 PRISM Spring 2013 RESEARCH FUNDING: We are accepting undergraduate Research Proposals for funding. However, funds are limited. Please submit a HARD COPY of your proposal by February 7 at the absolute latest. Stipend funds are somewhat limited this year and following the guidelines w
2、ill be a major consideration. We will not contact you to “fix up the proposal” but will work with your proposal as submitted.The following must be rigidly adhered to: 1. The cover page must have your name, title of proposal (this title should also be the title of your project to appear in the Chroni
3、cle with your abstract so please consult with your mentor), date, name of mentor, and be signed by your mentor. At the bottom of the cover page, indicate the approximate number of hours that you will commit to this research either as the total hours or hours per week times the number of weeks. It sh
4、ould cover the period February 1 to May 31 and include preparation for the Annual May Symposium. Your mentor must initial this statement of time commitment.2. The proposal CANNOT exceed 1,500 words of text (with additional tables, figures, etc. as needed) and must include (with each section labeled
5、a, b, c, etc. and titled as below): * (NEW REQUIREMENT) a) Abstract (In 250 words or less, include a brief project overview, a summary of results to date if there are any, and a discussion of where the project is headed.) This abstract will be printed in the Chronicle. b) Introduction (brief introdu
6、ction on the general scientific relevance of your proposed research), c) Mentors Research Interests (brief description of your mentors general work), d) My Role and Work (brief description of your particular role and anticipated work for this research period), e) Methods and Equipment (brief descrip
7、tion of the methods, equipment, etc. which you will be using), f) Bibliography. 3. If you have started work with your mentor, the proposal must include, as an Appendix, a maximum 2-page discussion (with additional tables, figures, etc. as needed) progress report on what you have accomplished to this
8、 point in time.Please submit both a hard copy and an email attachment of the completed proposal by February 7 to Dr. Ron Pilette, PRISM Coordinator. Either place the hard copy in his hands or put it in his mailbox. Do not ask anyone else to receive your proposal. Send the email attachment directly t
9、o Dr. Pilette at rpilettejjay.cuny.edu. Do not send it to the prism email address. Again, please carefully follow items 1, 2, and 3 as discussed above.Please follow these guidelines as funding is limited and cannot be guaranteed. *If funding is granted, you will be asked to come to the PRISM office
10、to fill out paperwork in mid to late February. At this meeting, you will also be required, as a condition for research funding, to submit an updated biography and picture for the Chronicle.
