8、技巧,1）使用专门术语,合同语言是法律语言，它和口头语言有明显区别。比如：accept 在通常情况下可译为“接受”，但在商务合同中，该词常译为“承兑”。又比如：“At the request of Party B, Party A agrees to send an engineer to assist Party B to maintain the equipment”，在这句话中，显然“assist”一词比“help”更准确、正式。,2）使用古（旧）体词汇,合同中经常出现由here/there/where + 各种介词所构成的古（旧）体词汇，其中here相当于this，there相当于th
9、at，where相当于which或what。例如：herein的意思等于in this，hereafter等于after this，thereof等于of that，whereby等于by which。使用这些词语能够使合同的行文显得正式、准确、简洁。 商务英语中常见的古体词还包括：hereafter ，therefore ，whereas ，hereby ，hereinafter / herein below ，thereinbefore ，thereinafter ，hereof ，herewith , thereafter , thereon/ thereupon，thereunder，
10、hereto，hereinabove / hereinbefore 等。,3) 同义词叠用,为了克服由于许多英语词汇一词多义的特点而导致对合同的不同解释，在合同中对于一些关键性的词常采同义词叠用法，通过双联词组或三联词组的使用，确保合同在内容上表意精确。例如：made and entered into（签订协议），by and between（强调合同是由“双方”签订），complaints and claims（索赔），fulfill or perform（履行），power and authority（权利）、bind and obligate（约束）、sole and exclusive
11、（唯一的）、final and conclusive（最终的）等,返回,典型长句结构及其译法,1.简单长句及其翻译,原文：The Buyers may, 1)within 15 days after arrival of the goods at the destination, lodge a claim against the sellers 2)for short weight 3)being supported by Inspection Certificate issued by a reputable public surveyor. 译文：货物抵达目的港15天内，买方可以凭有信誉
12、的公共检验员出示的检验证明向卖方提出短重索赔。,解析：,例句的主干为“The Buyers may.lodge a claim.”，修饰谓语动词的状语有三个，分别为时间状语“within 15 days after arrival of the goods at the destination”，方式状语“being supported by Inspection Certificate issued by a reputable public surveyor”和原因状语“for short weight”,而且状语中还嵌有状语，作定语的过去分词“issued”还有自己的状语“by a re
13、putable public surveyor”。尽管在英语中的状语位置可以十分灵活，然而按照汉语的行文规范，方式状语一般应位于动词之前；而有些状语在译文中可以灵活处理,例如本句中的时间状语，可以提前至句首。,2.复合长句及其翻译,原文：Should one of the parties to the contract be prevented from executing contract by force majeure, such as earthquake, typhoon, flood, fire, and war and other unforeseen events, and t
