Therefore

2、, the translation of “China time-honored brand” names become the most important thing to do. This thesis starts with the history of “China time-honored brands”, including the origin and the decline stage. Then it states a brief introduction of some theories about translation. The third part expresse

3、s the importance of their translation in order to explain the reason of this essay. The main part is the forth one which provides four method of translation: method of Chinese pinyin, literal translation, liberal translation and transliteration. Those four method followed some examples provide the w

4、ay to translate honored brands effectively and to make their English names become easy to be understood by foreigners. 5、tion 毕业设计(论文)报告纸 ii 摘摘 要要 随着经济的全球化发展,国际贸易开始成为促进全球经济发展的中坚力量, “中华 老字号”的品名翻译也就显得尤为重要了。本文从中华老字号的历史入手,介绍了中 华老字号的起源以及它的衰落;在第二部分对一些翻译理论进行了简单的介绍,然后 在第三部分阐述翻译中华老字号的重要性包括其国际影响力以及对中国商品经济发展 的重要作用,这部分显示了本文之所以讲述老字号翻译的原因。第四部分也是最主要 的部分,提供了四个能有效翻译老字号并使其更好的为外国人所接受的翻译方法,即 中国拼音法,直译法,意译法,以及音译法。本文的目的是为了使“中华老字号”能 更好地推广至国际

9、n arousing consumers desire to shop, bringing huge economic benefits, and even determining the survival of a company. Trademark translation is not only a simple conversion from one code to another, but also a clear intention of cross-language commercial, a special cross-cultural communication activi

10、ties. Wu Zhuo (2001) thought that the way trademark composed was extremely easy. When translating, translators do not need to take sentences, paragraph, article into consideration. But the translation should be remembered and recognized by customers. He Chuansheng (1997) put forward that a trademark

11、, no matter composed of words or figures, conveyed certain information especially when it was made up of words, reflecting the longer history and deeper culture of the product. Nida (1993) raised a theory, which was called “functional equivalence”. It said that translating means communication, and j

12、udging the validity of a translation can not stop with a comparison of corresponding lexical meanings, grammatical classes, and rhetorical devices. “China time-honored brand” is an honored title granted by the Ministry of Commerce of PRC to enterprises in mainland China whose brand has a long history, and its products, techniques or services passed down through generations, with strong Chinese culture background and characteristics and is widely recognized by the society.
