2、国际奥林匹克委员会主办的包含多种体育运动项目的国际性体育运动会，每四年一届，分为夏季奥运会（“奥运会”）、冬季奥运会（“冬奥会”）、夏季青年奥运会（“青奥会”）和冬季青年奥运会。现代奥运会是全球影响最大国际体育盛会之一，仅次于国际足联世界杯足球赛。 奥林匹克运动会最早起源于两三千年前的古希腊，因为举办地在奥林匹亚而得名。后来古希腊没落，奥运从此停办了近1,500年，直到近代，19世纪末由法国的顾拜旦创立了有真正奥运精神的现代奥林匹克运动会。从此，自1896年开始奥林匹克运动会每4年就举办一次，只有两次世界大战中中断过3次（分别是在1916年、1940年和1944年），更确立了会期不超过16日的
