2、ld language.For example Glanville Price ,he thinks that English has made many nation languages died out and constituting such a threat to the remaining Celtic languages long-term future.The other English academic Robert Phillipson, he said,English is linguicism.With the expansion of English,there ar
3、e three circles which have made the English expanded to take in the entire planet.By and large,the authors idea that English has become a global language is not its fault.There are many “world language” which like English that we often talk with admiration and appreciation about cultures associated
4、with them.They never posed much of threat is probably that too close for us to be able to analyze and judge it.Its easy to look for situatiion where people might call English a curse.In Australia the first Europeans often used Latin to describe and discuss the place.As the Europeans arriving,many of
5、 local languages have died out which replaced by pidgin English or general Australian English.From the historical development, if not English,there may be other languages as a world language,for examplethe Mongolian、Arabic、Spanish、and Russian ect. So we couldnt blame for the extinction of Aboriginal
6、 language be laid specifically at the door of Englsih.English is just as a large languages being likely to influence smaller languages.May be English is a blessing from a historical point of view.In Africanized English as an example,many years ago,South Africa ceased to be governed on principles of
7、racial separateness,European settlers set up an Afrikaner community ,though English-speaking South Africans were strong in opposing the apartheid regime,English helped the black opposition becoming strength and organization.It became the key language of freedom and unity for them.There are today ele
8、ven official languages in South Africa,but black South Africans want English and in particular a suitably Africanized English.So,English was a curse for the indigenous people of Australia and something of a blessing for those in South Africa.English is really a dangerous for plane? On the one hand, English is a blessing and a curse for culture,nation,comunities,and individuals.But the other hand, English is a language in the world which should seek to benefit as fully as possible from the blessing and as far as possible avoid invoking the curse.
